I have racked up 3 more cards of Billy Williams bringing my total up to 16. Billy didn’t really get too much attention in the 60’s and 70’s the way other stars did, but his numbers are extremely impressive and 2 of these cards below illustrate that.
A 1973 Topps card showing the AL/NL League Leaders in batting average featuring Billy Williams and Rod Carew.
A 1974 Topps card highlighting the selection of Billy Williams and Reggie Jackson as 1973 Major League All-Stars.
And lastly a 1972 Topps ‘In-Action’ card featuring Billy Williams and his ‘Sweet Swing’.

What kind of recognition do you think Billy Williams would of gotten if he played for the Yankees or Cardinals?

That’s a great question. Those 2 teams have a ton of history along with the Cubs. He surely would have been loved by those teams and cities, but his ability could not match their top talents like Mantle, Dimaggio, Musial, and Brock…
