I recently scored 7 Andre Dawson certified autographs off of Ebay for less than $30 delivered. This is card #4 of the 7.
I don’t even know where to start with this one…
Ok, so you have a game-used piece of jersey worn by Andre Dawson from when he played with the Chicago Cubs. Then you have a piece of a bat that was also used during his playing days in ‘The Windy City’. And then you add a beautiful signature of Andre’s complete with the ‘ROY ‘77′ inscription. Lastly, this card is numbered as #14/50!!!
I love everything about this signed memorabilia card. I have a few of these 2005 Donruss Dimaond Kings cards, but this one by far takes the cake!!

At age 20, Al Kaline of the Detroit Tigers became the youngest player ever to win a batting title by hitting .340 in 1955.

Personal note – I am shocked that in the last 30 years that no hitter has come close to this feat. In the ‘age of the hitter’, it’s surprising that a record like this would still be standing.

Now that my Dave Winfield player collection is complete I wanted to take the time to show off my favorite 5 cards from this set.
Card #5 – 1988 Score
While not the best image of Dave Winfield, this card certainly illustrates the incredible power that ‘Big Dave’ possessed at the plate. The 1988 Score design will not win any awards, but for it’s inaugural season I think that they did an incredible job with their action photography. In comparison to the standard, posed shots that many of the other companies that debuted in the 1980’s used, Score did the best job. That is of course until 1989’s product debuted and a little company called Upper Deck came on the scene. You may have heard of them…
