TTM Success!! Lee Smith Signed Baseball!!!

July 1, 2009 · 5 Comments

This could not have worked out any better…

A week and a half ago I saw that Lee Smith was going to be on hand at a few Iowa Cubs games to sign autographs for the fans attending the game.  While I would have loved to have been in attendance to meet Mr. Smith in person, I was not planning a trip to Iowa.

So I did the next best thing and picked up the phone.  I have had some incredible experiences in my TTM autograph attempts and the minor league ball clubs rank at #1 when it comes to customer appreciation and satisfaction.   These teams know how to treat their fans and keep them happy.  In less than 10 minutes I was able to connect with a rep in the team’s marketing department and soon had her address penciled down for where I could send my ball to.

The next day off my ball, my donation to the team, and a return envelope went.

And last night, this was waiting for me in the mail!!!  Welcome home Lee Smith!!!

I had asked if he would include the ‘478 saves’ inscription on the ball as I think it is a stat worthy of attention.  Smith went above and beyond for me as he also included his jersey number, #46!!!

Andre Dawson Certified Autograph #7

July 1, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I recently scored 7 Andre Dawson certified autographs off of Ebay for less than $30 delivered.  This is card #7 of the 7.

Do these cards keep getting  better looking or is it just me??

Numbered 52/100, this perfectly signed Andre Dawson card is from the 2003 Donruss Signatures Series set called ‘Team Trademarks Century’.  Donruss did a great job with the overall design of this card and really worked the Expos’ team colors into the motif very well.  Even with all of the action happening in the graphics, the image of Dawson and his beautiful signature really pop off of the background.

1984 Topps Darryl Strawberry

1984 Topps Darryl Strawberry

Of course I had to pick up this card!!!

I am about half-way through Darryl’s autobiography right now and my appreciation for him as a player continues to grow.  Straw was a baseball superstar in the mid-to-late 80’s and his dominance on the field was not matched by many.  Amazingly while his personal life was in shambles, Darryl continued to excel on the baseball diamond and won the hearts of many Mets and baseball fans around the country.

I like this card.  I remember that swing very well and I cheered for it quite often as a kid!!!

Hanley Ramirez’s 4 RBI Helps The Marlins Beat The Nationals!!!

July 1, 2009 · 1 Comment

In what was a rain-soaked game that only lasted 7 innings, it was Hanley Ramirez that came through again for the Florida Marlins.  This time he collected 4 RBI for the team and helped them overcome a 5-1 deficit to beat the Nationals 7-5 in 7 innings.

Ramirez has been on fire as of late.  Last week’s co-player of the week, Hanley has collected at least 1 RBI in 9 consecutive games and 22 total RBI in that stretch.  In those games, the Marlins are 6-3 and Ramirez is a very large reason for their success!!!

If Hanley is able to maintain this pace and the team starts to battle with the Phillies for the division title, I wonder how soon the ‘Hanley for MVP’ talk will start.  I am certainly biased since I get to see him play on a daily basis, but it would be very easy to argue that his is a Top 3 candidate for that award right now.

Keep up the great work Hanley!!!
