The 600th Different Andre Dawson Baseball Card In My Collection!!!

The 600th Different Andre Dawson Baseball Card In My Collection!!!

I think I timed this one pretty well…  As I have been building up Dawson collection at a pretty serious rate over the last few months, I quickly zoomed by #500 and didn’t get time to celebrate.

So this time, when #600 came up, I made sure that I would take a few minutes to show off my accomplishment and pay honor to #600 by making it a great card.

Here it is:

Andre Dawson 2001 Fleer Greats Certified Autograph

The card looks great, and it features the all-important ‘on card’ autograph that all serious collectors seek!

I am so excited to have this card in my collection – it is a fantastic looking baseball card!!

Cheers to #600!!!

“I SOLD IT, I SOLD IT”

“I SOLD IT, I SOLD IT”

What is it??

Well, you may recall that a few weeks ago I won a radio-station contest.  My prize was a Bose Portable Sounddock.  You can revisit that story here.

Anyway, I did not have much use for it, and after seeing what they were selling for on Ebay, my eyes were widened and I quickly listed that bad-boy.

And now, the item has been sold, payment has been received, and the package has been delivered.

And I can honestly tell you that my PayPal account could not be happier!  With a positive balance that it has never seen before, we are prepared to shop.  And shop we will!!!

I have a very good idea as to how I want to spend a majority of the money, so now I just have to put my plan into action.

Stay tuned as I will show off my purchase(s) as soon as those deals are completed.

Thanks.

Ron Santo 1965 Topps

Ron Santo 1965 Topps

Possibly my favorite design from the 1960s, I am thrilled to add this 1965 Topps card of Ron Santo to my collection that honors him!!

Santo put together a solid campaign in 1965.

A closer look at the numbers – .285 batting average with 173 hits including 30 doubles and 33 home runs.  He also accounted for scoring 88 runs while driving in 101.  Santo made the All-star team, collected another Gold Glove award, and finished in 18th place for the NL MVP award in 1965.

A great addition to my Ron Santo player collection – 1965 Topps!!

Did You Know…

In 1972 Philadelphia’s Steve Carlton finished with a record of 27-10, 310 strikeouts, and an ERA of 1.97.  The Phillies finished the season at 59-97, meaning that Carlton accounted for 45.8 percent of the Phillies’ wins that year.

My Take – A fierce competitor, somehow I don’t believe that Carlton was satisfied with this stat…

My Darryl Strawberry ‘Fab 5′ – Card #5

My Darryl Strawberry ‘Fab 5′ – Card #5

Now that my Darryl Strawberry player collection is complete I wanted to take the time to show off my favorite 5 cards from this set.

Card #5 – 1989 Topps

The 1989 Topps design from their base set is one of my favorites from the 1980′s.  I love the team-themed colors used throughout, and the script and banner design of the team and player name look great.  The card has a nice, vintage look to it, and the big action photo of Darryl makes this one a hit with this collector.
