My Orel Hershiser Collection Is Complete!!!

My Orel Hershiser Collection Is Complete!!!

More than 7 months and 90 cards later, my collection paying homage to the incredible baseball career of Orel Hershiser is complete.

For the cards, I chose to keep my collecting focus strictly on the Dodgers cards of Orel’s.  The result is a beautiful array of cards that scream ‘Dodger Blue’.  And while I kept my focus on Hershiser’s days with the Dodgers, I did also enjoy watching him pitch for the Indians.

So, here it is.  My completed set of Orel Hershiser cards:

And as you have come to expect this from ’30-YOC’, I will unveil the ‘Fab 5′ cards from my collection starting next Monday.

Stay tuned!!!

Did You Know…

In the 2004 season when he shattered his own single-season record by drawing 232 walks, Barry Bonds had more intentional walks than the American League leader had total walks.  Bonds has 120 intentional walks while Eric Chavez led the AL with just 95 total walks.

My take – Will there be another hitter that was as respected and feared as what Barry Bonds was??  I’m not so sure…

Happy Anniversary George Brett!!!

Happy Anniversary George Brett!!!

On this day in 1992, George Brett collected hit number 3,000 of his amazing baseball career!!!

On the road playing the Angels, Brett’s Kansas City Royals teammates were playing in front of 17,000+ fans.  If the baseball fans in the Los Angeles area knew that history was going to be made on this day, I would have to imagine that more people would have been in attendance.

For the day, Brett put on quite a display of hitting excellence.  Going 4-for-5, he hit 1 double and 3 singles.

George Brett finished his Hall of Fame career with 3,154 hits and ranks as 15th in baseball history for career hits.

Happy Anniversary Mr. Brett!!!
