1987 Topps ‘Turn Back The Clock’ – Card #1 – Rickey Henderson
‘Five Years Ago’
The card celebrating the 1982 baseball season features Rickey Henderson’s 1982 Topps baseball card. One of my favorite Henderson cards of All-time, the card perfectly captures Rickey taking a big lead off of first base as he torments the pitcher, catcher, first baseman, and manager of the opposing team. And while I am not crazy about the color Pink (a very non-traditional baseball color) being used on any baseball card, I have to say that it compliments the Green very well on this issue from 1982.
Here is the card:
Some of the highlights mentioned on the back from the ’82 season include:
- Paul Molitor getting 5 hits in 1 World Series game
- John Wathan setting the major league record for steals by a catcher with 36
- Rollie Fingers becoming the first reliever to capture 300 saves
- Rickey Henderson setting the major league record for steals in a season with 130 swipes

Awesome card…
