Baseball Card Show Purchase #9 – The Oddest Mike Schmidt Baseball Card That I Have Ever Seen!!!
When I tell you that I was halted in my tracks when I saw this card I would not be stretching the truth.
This card is so odd, with such a strange photo, that I actually lost my concentration while plowing through a bargain bin.
I don’t want to wait any longer.
Let me show you the card:
The card comes from the 2011 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions set. And while I knew prior that these cards were a little on the ‘odd’ side, I am really awed by this one.
At first, I did not realize that the person featured was Mike Schmidt. Hell, it could pass for a number of guys from the 1970′s – actors, adult entertainers, singers, but not Michael Jack Schmidt!!
So strange, huh?

That set is full of crazy looking cards. Johnny Bench has an epic jacket as I recall.
Did Mike Schmidt pose for a Sears or JC Penny’s christmas catalog early in his career?
