1982 HEADLINE: Cal Ripken Jr. Captures The American League Rookie Of The Year Award

On this day in 1982, Cal Ripken was awarded with the American League’s Rookie of the Year Award.

He collected 24/28 first place votes outdistanced Kent Hrbek of the Twins by a great margin.

His numbers from that impressive debut campaign include – 158 hits, .264 batting average, 32 doubles, 5 triples, 28 home runs, 90 runs scored, 93 RBI, and the start of an amazing hitting streak!!!
