Maury Wills 2001 Topps Archives
I have long admired the major league career of Maury Wills. No, I never got to see him play. And no, he never suited up for the teams that I have cheered for during my lifetime.
But, it certainly does appear that he played the game in the same manner in which I enjoy watching it.
Wills was a hustler; a terror on the base paths. And he was a nightmare for pitchers; both at the plate and while on base.
Here is a card of him from the 2001 Topps Archives set.
If you had to pick one player in the majors today that you would compare to Wills and how he played the game, who would you select?
My pick is Michael Bourn!

Numbers wise Juan Pierre matches up pretty well.
Matt- Nicely done. I was thinking Jose Reyes…
