Mike Schmidt 1981 Fleer – M.V.P.
I will give Fleer a little slack on this one. After all, 1981 was the first year of Fleer baseball cards.
For a card that acknowledges the MVP baseball season of any major league player, it needs to have an extra element of ‘special’ added to it. After all, only two men get to claim that title…
This is Fleer’s card of Mike Schmidt from their 1981 set.
Hardly fantastic, Fleer made an attempt to commemorate Schmidt’s MVP season of 1980. And while the effort was far from superb, I will give them a ‘hat-tip’ for at the effort!

I still remember opening boxes of 1981 Fleer and Donruss, and thought it was so cool that there was even more cards to collect! Little did I know what it would lead to these days, but they will always have a spot in my heart. And chasing all the error cards for a master set, was great fun too! lol
.
What’s the saying? Oh yeah… it’s the thought that counts. I agree… Fleer should have taken the time to find a photo that shows off Schmidt’s MVP ability.
Fuji- You are 100% correct. It is the thought that counts. Too bad we lose sight of that at times…
Be good, my friend!
