The Evolution Of My Collection – Part 14
It has been a little more than five months since my last ‘Evolution’ post.
I still remain extremely organized with my collecting, and even as the size of my collection grows, I make sure that I take my time to keep things as neat and tidy as possible.
If you have read any of my prior ‘Evolution’ posts, you will notice albums have been recently introduced into the fold. While my preference is to keep cards in boxes as they are easier to organize and move around, I have introduced albums for a few parts of my collection that do not change all that much.
First, let me show you what my full collection looks like today. Then, I will offer a breakdown of what you’re seeing…

Grey album – Florida/Miami Marlins team sets
Black album – Pete Rose 1985 Topps limited edition set
WHEW!!! That was a lot of work!!!!
My Marlins team set album is bulging. I am going to have to pick up another album and split them up soon. Also, I am considering moving some more subsets into the one that holds my Pete Rose limited edition set. This will free up some much needed space in my boxes, and also provide me with a lot more penny sleeves and top loaders to use for future player collections… We’ll see.
That is it – my full baseball card collection. With the exception of a few cards that are on my desk that are either to be traded or are going to be written about for the blog in the coming days, you are seeing the whole collection.
Thanks for reading. I promise to try to do this a little more often.
Have a great night!!!

I LOVE seeing pics of people’s collections and how they are organized and stored. Great collection Brian! Would be nice to see pics of other’s as well if we could?
Thanks Ron!!
Nice! How do you store them when not spread out? Shelves?
Wish I could condense like this.
The Lost Collector- While I would prefer to leave them all spread out on the floor like that, I have an armoire in our loft that all of the boxes fit into. It is a tight fit, and one more box will not fit so a new plan will have to come about as my collection grows.
Very cool. I wish I was as organized as you
Fuji- Thanks.
I am in the process of moving all my Yankees into boxes. I have over 15,000 Yankee cards, so it is quite a task to do this. I would prefer albums as you can view the collection easier, but the boxes, I feel, take up less room.
I have my Tino Martinez, Mark Teixeria, Martin Brodeur, Mike Bossy, Wayne Cherebet and Patrick Ewing player collections in binders. I am starting a Roberto Clemente collection, so I need to pick up a new binder.
Wow, that is a lot of Yankees cards!! Good luck with the organizing of them all.
Clemente would be a lot of fun to collect – enjoy it!!
yea know the feeling. I have about 15,000 Pirates cards and about 10,000 Marlins cards. All the singles are in binders, and the doubles are in boxes. Finally finished sorting them all this past fall.
Ron- Wow! How long did that take?
only a couple of years LOL . I also have my other favorite teams, Steelers, Buccaneers, Celtics, Penguins, and Twins done the same way. I keep everything pre-1979, in binders, then all inserts and serial numbered cards in binders too from my sets, with the rest being in boxes. Outside of 15 cards i just got in the mail today, I do have everything sorted finally. All 1.2 million cards took me about 6 years to sort! lol
Ron- That is a lot of cardboard!!
Yea, I am addicted. Know of any good support groups? lol
Ron- I only know of one – ’30-YOC’
ok that works haha
Hey Brian, this post got me to thinking. Do you, or anybody else know where I can get a publication, or free download, of all the Marlins’ cards ever produced? Kinda like a monster checklist. beckett.com has one but they want you to pay $20.00 a year for it which is ridiculous. Any help would be appreciated. Or at least a website that lists all the cards. Thank you
Ron- great question! I don’t know of one off the top of my head, but I’ll surf around tonight and send a few emails out too to see what I can find. I’ll keep you posted.

I found this site but I have not been able to figure out how to add cards to my collection on the site.
