Baseball Card Show Purchase #6 – Dwight Gooden 2002 Donruss Originals – 1984 Design
I had no intentions of seeking out or bringing home new Dwight Gooden cards for my collection at the show. But when I saw this beauty, I had to have it!!!
The card comes from the 2002 Donruss Originals set and it features two very prominent logos that pulled me in: (1) The ’84 Donruss logo (2) Donruss’ famous ‘The Rookies’ logo.
The card’s color is remarkable! Very strong coloring, and a perfect backdrop that allows for Gooden’s image to appear to be 3-Dimensional!!!
Not bad for fifty cents!!!
Too bad there is not a classic Rated Rookies logo in the corner instead of The Rookies logo!

Love this issue. I have Kirby Puckett with both ‘The Rookies’ and ‘Rated Rookies’ logos. Just awesome cards. Thanks for posting, Brian!
Tom of Orgeon- Thanks! I’ve never seen the Puckett cards, but I have to imagine they are pretty sweet. I do have two Dawson’s from the set and they are awesome!!
