Andre Dawson 2005 Upper Deck Artifacts Game-Used Jersey Relic Card

Andre Dawson 2005 Upper Deck Artifacts Game-Used Jersey Relic Card

I’m not sure how I overlooked this card for as long as I did, but I always thought that I had it in my collection.

Yes, my Andre Dawson relic collection has more than 100 cards in it, but I maintain a pretty well-organized checklist of the cards I own, but I must have just missed this one altogether.

It wasn’t until the card you see below came across Ebay that I checked my list of cards to see if I did.  The reason I went back?  I was not sure the one I owned was serial numbered – and if it was not, than this would be another unique card for my collection.  So, I checked, and the card was not listed.  Then I went to the box that holds my Dawson relic cards (in order by year and brand, of course) and it was not there either.

So, I bought it!  Plain and simple.  And now I have a new relic card of Andre Dawson in my collection.  And it is serial numbered as 133/325.

SWEET!!!

Andre Dawson 2010 Panini Century ‘Postcards’ Certified Autograph & 2-Color Jersey Relic

I have never been a fan of this set, but when the card features your favorite player, you tend to bend the rules a bit.

And this time around, I am happy that I did just that.

Not only does this card feature a 2-tone swatch of game-used jersey worn by Andre Dawson, but it is perfectly completed with his gorgeous signature.

Have a look:

The card is serial numbered to just 50 copies.  Mine is #24/50.

I’m happy to have this one in my collection now.   And I am just as happy to be able to move on to the next – I’ll try for a better looking card the next time around…

Andre Dawson 2013 Panini America’s Pastime ‘Career Numbers’ Game-Used Jersey Card

Andre Dawson 2013 Panini America’s Pastime ‘Career Numbers’ Game-Used Jersey Card

While the execution may not be flawless, the theme is neat.

This card is from the ‘Career Numbers’ subset that is a part of the 2013 Panini America’s Pastime set.

This card of Andre Dawson pays homage to his 438 career home runs.  I like the way that Panini threw the ’438′ onto what looks like flip cards.

There were 125 copies made of this card with the White jersey swatch.  Mine is serial numbered as 124/125.

Have a look:

One of the things that I think could make this card better would have been if the card was serial numbered to 438 copies.

I do know that there are other versions of this card out there – with differing colors of jersey chunks.  Hopefully, in time, I can add another one or two to my collection.

Time will tell…

2012 Topps Timeless Talents Dual-Game-Used Relic Card With Andre Dawson & Justin Upton

2012 Topps Timeless Talents Dual-Game-Used Relic Card With Andre Dawson & Justin Upton

I’d been passively shopping for this card for part of two years.

At first, the card was drawing in a lot of high bidders – some paying more than $20 for the card.

I waited it all out – and I just kept my search going and my faith in the fact that I should be able to find one in my price range over time.

Well, that patience paid off as I finally landed the card for less than $8.00.

The card comes from the 2012 Topps ‘Timeless Talents’ subset.  It is a dual-game-used relic card that features 2 piece of jersey worn by Andre Dawson and 2 pieces of wood from a game-used Justin Upton bat.

The card is serial numbered to just 50 copies.  Mine is #49/50.

I like this card a lot.  I have had the base version in my Dawson collection since it was released back in 2012.  The style is neat and clean, and while both hitters are right handed, I like how Topps chose two images of the guys with their bats in the position that they are – for me, it draws my eye to the center of the card – and all of those relics.

A fantastic addition to my ‘Ultimate Dawson’ collection!!  YES!!!

Baseball Card Show Purchase #7 – Jose Fernandez 2014 Topps Series 1 Manufactured Commemorative Patch Card

Baseball Card Show Purchase #7 – Jose Fernandez 2014 Topps Series 1 Manufactured Commemorative Patch Card

This pick-up was probably my greatest single-card purchase of the night.  And my most expensive one as well.

The card is from the 2014 Topps Series 1 Manufactured Commemorative Patch set that is only available through retail blasters.

And as you can see, the card features the 2013 NL ROY, Jose Fernandez and a very sweet Miami Marlins logo patch.

I’m loving it.

And it was on my ‘mental list’ to go after when found affordably.  So, I did just that.

This is my first relic card of Fernandez for my collection and I am hopeful that in time I can add another one to my collection.

Thanks for reading!

Andre Dawson 2004 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia ‘Tools Of The Trade’ Dual-Relic Card

Andre Dawson 2004 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia ‘Tools Of The Trade’ Dual-Relic Card

It has been a while since I nabbed a card from the Playoff ‘Tools Of The Trade’ series.  And it is not because I don’t want them – it is more of a supply and pricing issue.

The supply is there, it is minimal but it is there.  And the price is very there – and usually much higher than what I am wanting to pay.

The style of this set is one that I have enjoyed since I encountered them when I got back into the hobby.  Between the 2004 and 2005 issues, they are some of my favorite modern card styles.

So, when I am able to find one at a low, affordable price, I jump all over it.  And sometimes my bid sticks.  Sometimes.

This is one of those times!!!

I pulled in a dual-relic card of Andre from the 2004 set.  The card features a bat and jersey relic and it is serial numbered to just 250 copies.  The one that I picked up is numbered as 147/250.

The Blue swatch is a perfect match to the card’s color scheme.  And the little chunk of wood is a very nice complementary piece.

It’s nice to add one of these to the collection.  I am ready for the next!!

Fergie Jenkins 2007 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts Triple-Relic Card!!

Fergie Jenkins 2007 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts Triple-Relic Card!!

When I first came across this card, I thought it would be a fun journey to collect 4 of them – each with another swatch of jersey.

That quest started with the first card from this issue that I added to my Fergie Jenkins collection – a dual relic card that I picked up all the way back in December of 2010.

Yes, 2010.

Since then, I have let many cards from this set come and go.

But now, after three years, I have added my second card to the set – a card that features three pieces of jersey filling in the C,U, and T of ‘CUTS’.

The card is serial numbered as 89/99 and it looks pretty sick!!!

Check it out:

I am loving it.

And I a promising myself, and you , and Fergie that I will not wait until 2016 to obtain my next card for this collection.  Hopefully, it is something that I can tackle in the weeks and months ahead.

Wish me luck!

Fergie Jenkins 2013 Topps ‘Chasing History’ Game-Used Bat Relic Card

Have a look at this beauty!!!

I’ve been drooling over this card for more than six months so it was a great thrill to finally find one in my price range after seeing a handful of them sell for quite a bit more than what I would have wanted to pay.

Now, my focus is on the ‘Gold’ version of the same card.

Let me take a minute to say that I am more than a little puzzled by the card – This card comes from the Chasing History subset.  Each of Topps’ flagship releases in 2013 has included 50 cards for this subset, making 150 total.  But, Jenkins is not in any of them.  Kind of odd, right?

So, the Jenkins’ relic card design was made just for the relic set?  That doesn’t seem very cost-effective if you ask me…

But, I will not complain about it – just celebrate it!!  The card is sharp and offers incredible color.  I’m a big fan of cards that feature Fergie and the butterfly-collar that he sported under his jersey in the 1970′s and it is captured nicely in this picture very nicely.

An excellent addition to my Fergie Jenkins PC!!!

Joe Morgan 2013 Topps Manufactured Card Patch – 1973 Topps Baseball Design

Joe Morgan 2013 Topps Manufactured Card Patch – 1973 Topps Baseball Design

Good or Bad, Topps has not created too many manufactured patch cards that make me crave them.  Sure, they are nice, but the checklists have not really appealed to me and my collecting style.

So, while I check them out and mostly like what I find, I have not had to put too much energy into finding them for my player collections.

Thus far, I have only had to buy two of them – Jim Palmer and Joe Morgan!

The Palmer was scored way back in May, and now, six months later I have brought home the Joe Morgan.

The Morgan card features the 1973 Topps card of ‘Little Joe’ and I like it quite a bit.

Check it out:

While the design of the 1973 Topps baseball card set may not scream 1970′s in the same manner that the ’72 and ’75 sets may, there is no doubting that Joe Morgan’s sideburns are definitely inspired by the decade, and very possibly Richard Roundtree!!

Andre Dawson 2012 Playoff Prime Cuts ‘Retired Numbers’ Game-Used Jersey Card #2/10

Andre Dawson 2012 Playoff Prime Cuts ‘Retired Numbers’ Game-Used Jersey Card #2/10

For me, it is really simple – unlicensed baseball cards either look s really, really good or really, really bad.

And thankfully, this one swing to the good side!!!

The card comes from the 2012 Playoff Prime Cuts ‘Retired Numbers’ set and it features my ‘Main Man’ Hall of Famer, Andre Dawson.

The card is serial numbered as 2/10, and it is supposed to recall Dawson’s time in Montreal as a member of the Expos.  The small, Silver disc you see above the piece of jersey is stamped with the #10, Dawson’s jersey number with the Expos.

I won this card in a Twitter giveaway.  I try to stay active on Twitter, though I do find that task pretty tough.  Still, I keep a search going on any tweets that have the term ‘Andre Dawson’ in the text just to see what is happening and may be newsworthy.  When I saw that this giveaway was occurring, I threw my name in the hat, @30yoc, and I was the lucky winner!!!

And the prize was sweet!!!!
