25 years spanning over 4 decades.  Debuting in 1959 and playing into the 1980’s, Jim Kaat’s career has a very long wingspan!!!  Jim Kaat really is a ‘Super Veteran’!!!

The numbers – 283 wins, 237 losses.  2,461 strikeouts, 16 Gold Glove awards, 3.45 ERA, 3-time All-star, and 1 World Series championship!!!

  1. Jim looked REALLY young in that 1959 picture. Not quite a HOFer, but definitely worth remembering.

  2. I remember the first Katt card I saw was a Fleer with an ESPN microphone in his face. Being young and impressionable I thought he must have been one of the great of the game.
    These Super Veterans were a great subset. The Pete Rose crew cut the mop top are classic.

  3. Katt does a lot of radio interviews here in St.Louis. He is really good to listen to. He said his toughest batter/opponent was Al Kaline.
