Andre Dawson Did It Again – 4 More Perfectly Signed Baseball Cards!!!

He did it again, and I could not be happier!!!

In less than 2 short weeks Andre Dawson has returned 4 perfectly signed baseball cards to me.  These cards are part of the ‘inscription set’ that I have been working on this year and are a great compliment to the first 4 cards I added to this set a few months back.

Dawson 4

I still have quite a way to go to get this set close to where I want it to be.  But with the help of ‘The Hawk’ I think it’s a goal that I will be able to conquer.

I also have a few more ideas to add to this set and I should be able to send another package out to Andre in the coming months.  And in my last letter, I told him that I am going to take a picture of this set as I build it so he can see what I am attempting to do with it once complete.

No word yet on my 3rd request for an interview…  But I am not ready to give up on that quest either…

Thanks Andre!!!  The set looks great, and I owe it all to you!!!

We’re Taking On The Phillies Again…

Yes, the Marlins are headed for Philadelphia to take on the defending champs in a 3-game series this weekend.

And while ‘The Fish’ still have an outside chance of ousting the Phillies for the division title, this series can be the one to either make or break that opportunity for the team.  Since the All-star break, the Marlins have managed to play .500 ball while not losing any ground in the division.  In fact, they are in the same position now that they were in when the champs came to South Florida last month.  Sitting 6-7 games out of the top spot, a 3-game series can either rejuvenate your ball club if successful or crush your dreams if it’s a failure.

The last time we hooked up with the Phillies it was a nightmare.  We lost 3 games of the 4-game series and ‘Mother Nature’ stepped in to stop us from losing all 4.  If that happens again the National League East crown is definitely lost.  On the other hand, if we are able to take 2 out of 3 or all 3 games we are right back in it again!!!

For all Marlins fans this is the make-or-break series of 2009.  Let’s hope for a more positive outcome than the last time we did this!!!

Go Fish!!!

Celebrity First Pitch – The Kardashian Ladies

Ah, those Krazy Kardashian girls sure do make a scene wherever they go…  6″ high heels on a baseball diamond are always good for a laugh!!

I think it would have been funny if Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and Kris all threw their pitches at the same unsuspecting player.

Oh, and of the 30+ ‘Celebrity First Pich’ videos I have brought you, this is the first one that had a lengthy ‘hug ceremony’ after the pitches were thrown.  🙂

Go get ’em girls!!!

Happy Birthday Edgar Renteria!!!

Edgar Renteria turns 33 years old today.

One of my favorite Marlins players of all-time, Renteria has left a lasting impression on me from his days with ‘The Fish’.  While his career in South Florida lasted just 3 seasons long, his amazing efforts and ability to make big plays earned him the title of ‘My Favorite Marlin’ from 1996 through 1998.

And no play was bigger than the run he scored in Game 7 of the 1997 World Series that won the championship for the team.  Edgar was front-and-center for that event and it remains as one of my favorite moments that I have watched in sports!!

Happy Birthday Edgar!!!  And Thank You for creating a baseball memory for me that I will never forget!!
