1973 Topps Fergie Jenkins

1973 Topps Fergie Jenkins

Now this is a card that appeals to me!!

While I am not a big fan of the posed picture on a baseball card this one gets a pass strictly because it SCREAMS 1970’s!!!

Where do I start?  First you have the old school Chicago Cubs uniform and logo.  Then you have the butterfly-collared shirt under Fergie’s uniform.  Then you have the obviously large afro hiding under his cap.  And don’t forget those great sideburns too…

Maybe I was born in the wrong era!!  Either way, I am thrilled to add this card to my collection!!

Ask And You Shall Receive!!!

Shocked.  Stunned.  I cannot believe the volume of cards that have come my way!!!

A little over a week ago I did not own a single card of Cody Ross.  Well, today that story is certainly in the past as I am the proud owner of 38 cards and I believe that there are more on the way too.

This is going to work out perfectly as I hope to grab a few autographs from Cody this weekend.  And I also have a little surprise in store for him and these cards will certainly aid my efforts.

Thanks to everyone for their ‘donations’.  I am extremely grateful!!!

Celebrity First Pitch – Shaquille O’Neal

I love Shaq!!!  He is a larger-than-life man with a personality to match!!!

This video is from a Cardinals game earlier in the week, and I have to say that it’s fun to watch Shaq and Albert Pujols genuinely enjoying this moment together.  Here we have the biggest star in baseball with the biggest star, literally and figuratively, the sporting world has ever seen.  And they’re having fun!!!

Instant Classic!!!

Happy Anniversary Lou Brock!!!

On this day in 1979 Lou Brock connected for the 3,000th hit of his career.

In front of his home crowd of almost 45,000 fans at Busch Stadium, Brock went 2-for-2 on the day and made baseball history in front of the most loyal fans in the game.

The victim that day was Dennis Lamp of the Chicago Cubs who gave up singles to Brock in both the second and fourth innings.  It’s kind of ironic that Brock’s historic achievement came against his former team huh??

Congratulations Mr. Brock!!!
