World Series, Game 3 – Pettitte & A-Rod Prove Their Werth!!

For the first time in this series, offense was king!!

Two of the most exciting offensive teams in baseball managed to  collect 14 hits in Game 3 – 6 of which were home runs.  The Phillies struck first scoring 3 runs off of Andy Pettitte in the second inning.  However after that little spurt of offense, Pettitte was able to  remain calm and his Yankee teammates responded by scoring at least one run in the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th innings.

Alex Rodriguez was finally able to collect his first hit of the series, which was a controversial home run.  Nick Swisher also managed to launch one into the outfield seats while Hideki Matsui homered for the second straight game.

While the 3-headed monster of Rollins, Utley, and Howard were kept in check by going just 1-for-12, it was All-star Jayson Werth that provided most of the offense for the Phillies as he blasted two home runs.  Unfortunately for Philly, both were solo shots.

Now the Yankees go into Game 4 with a 2-1 lead and look to take a commanding lead in the series.  Game 4 is always a crucial game and if the Yankees win, their confidence will be at a series high!!  Their ace, CC Sabathia, will take the mound to ensure their best chance at a win while the Phillies counter with Joe Blanton.  If the Big 3 from Philadelphia don’t break out from their collective slump,  the Yankees should have enough firepowerto win the game.

Game 4 is just around  the corner!!!
