Darryl Strawberry 1988 Donruss All-Star
An extension of the base set, Donruss released a subset in 1988 honoring the players that made the All-star team during that year.
With the exact same design of the base card, and adding a league specific All-star logo in the bottom-right corner, this small subset was chock full of the game’s best players.
Darryl Strawberry had a monster of a season in 1988. Finishing in second place in the MVP vote to Kirk Gibson, Straw’s numbers were some of the best he put up in any single year. Crushing 39 homers while driving in 101 runs and scoring 101 runs made Darryl the Mets’ biggest offensive threat. With a slugging percentage of .585 and 29 stolen bases added to his already impressive numbers, it is easy to see why ‘Straw’ was one of the game’s brightest stars in the late 1980’s.
