Tim Raines 1982 Topps Highlights

Tim Raines 1982 Topps Highlights

This card is part of the ‘Highlights’ subset that Topps made famous in their base sets.

And this one here features my buddy Tim Raines and it celebrates his amazing accomplishment of 71 stolen bases during his rookie season of 1981.  An amazing task by any player, Raines put himself in the class of the sport’s greatest base runners during his rookie campaign with his 71-steal performance.

As amazing as it was, Raines’ record only lasted a few years.  In 1984 Juan Samuel, of the Phillies, stole 72 bases during his rookie season.  And then just 1 year later, Vince Coleman of the Cardinals stole 110!!!

This is easily one of my favorite cards that I have picked up for my Tim Raines collection.
