Andre Dawson 2006 SP Legendary Cuts ‘When It Was A Game’ Jersey Card

Andre Dawson 2006 SP Legendary Cuts ‘When It Was A Game’ Jersey Card

I couldn’t resist grabbing this one!!!

Numbered 26/75, I love the design of this card.  Very similar to the 1962 and 1987 Topps designs with the wood-grain border, this card pops with bright colors and a great picture of Andre Dawson.

The swatch, from a Cubs’ Gray jersey worn by Dawson, looks fantastic as the centerpiece of this beauty!

Another great addition to my ‘Ultimate Dawson’ tribute.

Ernie Banks 2008 Upper Deck Heroes – Base Card

Ernie Banks 2008 Upper Deck Heroes – Base Card

I am a firm believer that if you’re going to start out on a new venture, it is best to get your feet wet and test the waters.  Then you can get excited, gain momentum, and jump right in!!!

So, after a little homework and getting some help, I have secured my first card of this ‘Ernie Banks Rainbow’ that I am working on.

Simply stated, this version is the base card, and is the only non-serial numbered one of the bunch.

And it is probably the easiest one to find and pick up pretty inexpensively as well…

Still.  It is the start of a new venture for me at ’30-YOC’ and I look forward to sharing my journey with you as I make an attempt to leap over the ‘Ernie Banks Rainbow’.

Progress – 1/10

Stay tuned.  More to come…

TTM Success – Florida Marlins’ Gaby Sanchez

TTM Success – Florida Marlins’ Gaby Sanchez

WoW!!!  A very quick TTM return from Marlins’ first baseman, Gaby Sanchez.  Just 11 days after sending out a batch of TTM requests, Gaby signed a card for me and returned it very quickly.  I guess it helps that we are just one county apart, huh??

Gaby won the starting job at 1st base during Spring Training.  And while he has yet to put up the offensive numbers that most think that he can, his on-base percentage is very nice for a batter that hits 8th in the lineup.  Gaby is a Florida guy, having played baseball for the University of Miami.  I’ve been following him for a while now, and it is great to add his signature to my Marlins collection!

Thanks Gaby!!

Paul Molitor 1984 Donruss

Paul Molitor 1984 Donruss

Oh, yeah.  Catch the wave with the 1984 Donruss set!

This card of Molitor is a nice one.  The picture was taken at Fenway Park, and you can see the Green wall behind him that separates the fans from the field.

While pictures of a player’s follow-through of his swing is not an uncommon image on a baseball card, it is for Molitor.  Primarily known as a contact hitter who had 3,319 career hits, Molitor was not known for launching baseballs into the outfield seats.  In fact, of his 3,319 hits, he collected 605 doubles and an amazing 2,366 singles.

A great addition to my Paul Molitor player collection!
