My 2000 Fleer ‘Club 3,000′ Set Is Complete!!!

My 2000 Fleer ‘Club 3,000′ Set Is Complete!!!

It took quite some time, but this 14-card doozie is now complete.

When I decided to collect this set, I found it to be a fun challenge.  And along the way, I was able to learn about the 14 guys that this set of cards honors.  It was fun to read and report about their quest to earn 3,000 hits or 3,000 strikeouts.

And yet, while not wanting to take anything away from these 14 guys, I feel a little empty as I look at these cards laid out before me.  You see, there are so many deserving players that were omitted from this set that I would love to have seen included.  How about Hank Aaron and Willie Mays and Fergie Jenkins and Tom Seaver???

Nonetheless, this set was very fun to collect, and I love the design of these cards.  Because of the cards’ design, you know exactly what you’re looking at and there is a sense of baseball greatness and history within.

Here is the finished set:

Thanks.

One More ‘Mystery Package’ Headed To Andre Dawson Before He Leaves For Cooperstown….

One More ‘Mystery Package’ Headed To Andre Dawson Before He Leaves For Cooperstown….

I had to do it.  I couldn’t resist.  I needed to send one more package and donation to ‘The Hawk’ before be packed his bags and headed North at the end of July.

And while I know that my efforts will be rewarded with great results, I am so nervous and anxious to get this package back.  There are 2 items in this shipment.  And while neither item being sent is enormous in size, these 2 additions to my ‘Ultimate Dawson’ collection will be AWESOME!!!

I cannot wait to get this one back…

Paul Molitor 1986 Donruss

Paul Molitor 1986 Donruss

It has been sooooooo much fun showing off my Dale Murphy posed-portrait collection that I couldn’t wait to get this Paul Molitor published for you to see.

This card comes from the 1986 Donruss base set.

Hopefully this is not the start of a string of Molitor close-ups…  Cross your fingers.

1981 Topps ‘Record Breakers’ – Card #208 – Willie Wilson

1981 Topps ‘Record Breakers’ – Card #208 – Willie Wilson

Headline – “Wilson Sets Record For Official At-Bats”

Kansas City, Missouri, October 5, 1980.  Royals’ leadoff hitter Willie Wilson has become the first player in major league history to top the 700 mark in official at-bats in a season.  Willie came to the plate 705 official times in 1980 to establish a new all-time record in that category.  The former major league mark was held by Dave Cash of the Phillies who batted 699 times officially in 1975.

My take – Eclipsed by Jimmy Rollins in 2007, Wilson sits in second place today.
