Haul #4 From “The Andre Dawson Firesale”

Haul #4 From “The Andre Dawson Firesale”

No long explanations need this time.  Haul #4 from the “Andre Dawson Firesale” was my greatest yet.

9 cards in total.  All of them are below for your viewing pleasure…

1991 Donruss autograph

1988 Fleer All-Star autograph

1989 Baseball Card Magazine insert card autograph

1988 Score autograph

2004 Flair Greats autograph

2007 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts Game-Used Bat

2005 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic Game-Used Jersey

2004 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic – Patch

2004 Donruss Timelines – “Boys of Summer” – PATCH

And there it is.  Haul #4 is in the books – the record books that is!!!  In this go-round I added autographs, game-used bat cards, game-used jersey cards, manufactured patch cards, and my very first game-used patch as well!!!

Great stuff.  And great additions to my rapidly growing tribute to ‘The Hawk’!!!

Thanks.

So Far, My Ernie Banks Rainbow Looks Like This…

So Far, My Ernie Banks Rainbow Looks Like This…

You’ve got to start somewhere, right???

Just 4 cards deep, I know that I have a long way to go to get this set up to speed.  But I am definitely up to the challenge!!

Tim Raines 1985 Topps

Tim Raines 1985 Topps

A little too close for comfort, it looks like Tim Raines is ready to launch the photographer’s camera into the outfield bleachers if he gets any closer.

While I love the 1985 Topps set(it was the first one I put together 25 years ago), it is cards like these that are easy to forget…

Did You Know…

Darrell Evans and Reggie Jackson are the only players to hit at least 100 home runs for three different clubs.  Evans did it for the Braves(131), the Giants(142), and the Tigers(141), Jackson pulled it off with the A’s(268), Yankees(144), and Angels(123).

My take – Since the publication of this book, Alex Rodriguez has also accomplished this feat.  Jim Thome was also very close but unless he goes back to Philly, he won’t make the list.  Are there any others?  Does Manny have a shot with the Dodgers??

Happy Birthday Dave Concepcion!!!

Dave Concepcion turns 62 years old today.

Dave Concepcion’s major league career lasted 19 seasons.  And all of them came as a member of the Cincinnati Reds.

A superb defender at shortstop, Concepcion helped anchor one of the most talented infields in all of baseball’s history.  For his incredible defensive efforts, Concepcion won 6 Gold Glove awards in a 7-year span.

A career .267 hitter, he collected 2,326 hits.  Fleet on his feet, Concepcion scored 993 runs for the Reds while also stealing 321 bases.  Other impressive offensive stats include 950 RBI, 389 doubles, 101 home runs, and 48 triples.

Concepcion was named as a National League All-star 9 times.  He also won back-to-back Silver Slugger trophies in 1981 & 1982.

Dave Concepcion’s brilliant play at shortstop along with his speed and ability to get on base helped the Cincinnati Reds win World Series titles in 1975 & 1976.

Happy Birthday Mr. Concepcion!!!
