Did You Know…

During his brief stay in Montreal, Pete Rose doubled against Philadelphia’s Jerry Koosman during the fourth inning of Montreal’s home opener on April 13, 1984, for his 4,000th career hit.  Rose’s milestone hit happened on the 21st anniversary of his first major league hit, a triple against Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Bob Friend on April 13, 1963, at Crosley Field.

  1. I have a better one….On August 17th, 1967, KC Athletic Reggie Jackson hit his first career home run, playing for the A’s, against the Angels in Anaheim.

On August 17th, 1987, Oakland Athletic Reggie Jackson hit his final career home run (#563) playing for the A’s, against the Angels in Anaheim.

Also, Reggie hit his 562nd homer (and final ever hit in Oakland) off the Angels’ Mike Witt. The pitcher when he hit #563?

    Mike Witt.
