Calling It Quits!!!

Calling It Quits!!!

No, No, No.  Don’t worry ’30-Year Old Cardboard’ is not going anywhere.

I’m just revamping my collection a bit.  And after going back and forth on this decision for the better part of two weeks, I have finally made the choice to abandon my Ryan Braun and Josh Johnson collections.

While I still really enjoy watching both of these guys play, my enjoyment of collecting their cards has put me on a roller coaster of emotions that has left me in the pits.  After really trying to get into collecting modern cards of modern players, I have decided that for now it is not for me.

So, my collection of Braun will end with 34 cards in total and my collection of JJ will rest with 40.  In each lot, there are tons of rookie cards and inserts as well.

If anyone has interest in these cards please let me know – I would be happy to offer them up to a good home.  And I wouldn’t be looking for much in return either…

Both of these players are fantastic, and they both rank very high on my list of current players that I enjoy watching.

But for now, that is how it will remain.  Strictly watching, not collecting.

Leave me a comment if you want part or all of these two player collections.

Reggie Jackson 2008 Upper Deck SP ‘Legendary Memorabilia’ Game-Used Jersey Card

Reggie Jackson 2008 Upper Deck SP ‘Legendary Memorabilia’ Game-Used Jersey Card

One more beauty to show off featuring Reggie as the month of October comes to an end.

This one, serial numbered 36/50, comes from the 2008 Upper Deck SP ‘Legendary Memorabilia set’.  And I have to say that this one could be my favorite Reggie Jackson relic card in my collection.  So far…

Perfectly designed, the Black and White imagery mixed with the Grey swatch of Yankee jersey and the Sepia tones in the background, this card is a visual masterpiece masquerading as a baseball card.

Tony Perez 1983 Topps Traded

Tony Perez 1983 Topps Traded

Tony Perez played the entire 1983 baseball season with the Phillies.  But because he was with Boston during the 1982 season and had yet to sign with a new club prior to this set’s release, Topps gave him a card in their traded set to show him in his Phillies uniform.

And man, do I love those old-school Powder-Blue Phillies uniforms from the early 80’s!!!

A very sweet addition to my Tony Perez collection:

Happy Birthday Fred McGriff!!!

That’s right, the ‘Crime Dog’ turns 47 today!!!

Fred McGriff is possibly one of the most underrated baseball players from the last 20 years.  An extremely consistent hitter over the course of his 19-year career, McGriff added solid hitting and amazing power to the line-up.

For his 47th birthday, I give him 7 more home runs – giving him an even 500 for his amazing career.

Happy Birthday to the ‘Crime Dog’!!!
