Joe Morgan 2006 Upper Deck ‘Exquisite Legends’ Quad Relic Card – 11/15

Joe Morgan 2006 Upper Deck ‘Exquisite Legends’ Quad Relic Card – 11/15

I fell in love with this card the instant that I saw it.

And while I was not positive as to how much I was willing to fork over in order to make it mine, that was certainly my goal when I came across it.

Lucky for me, I must have been the only one zoned in on it, because I picked it up for much less than what I had expected.  In fact, I have seen several relic cards of Morgans’ that are not serial numbered sell for quite a bit more.

Call me lucky.  Call me opportunistic.  Call me whatever you want.  But now you can also call me the owner of this incredible baseball card!!!

I told you it was sweet.  And while I don’t get too obsessed with the whole serial numbered thing, for this card, it is very cool to know that I own a pretty rare issue.

‘On The Road With psugator02′ – Jack Nicklaus – November 5, 2010

‘On The Road With psugator02′ – Jack Nicklaus – November 5, 2010

7:15-8:45 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 5
Dwyer High School
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

It had been so long since I’ve graphed Jack Nicklaus that I wasn’t sure what to expect. I know he usually does it every Friday at his grandson’s football games but the last few Fridays I have been busy with other graphing opportunities. Knew that he is weird about doing it before the game so figured I’d be fine if I showed up by halftime. He’s easily recognizable and he always sits in pretty much the same area of the stands. Last year graphers would walk up to his seat at halftime and he would do it. But this year it seems he really wedged himself between members of his family, meaning there would really be no way to get near him at halftime. I figured that I’d have to wait until postgame to get near him, which sucked for me because I had gf obligations. As I’m standing between the track and the press box I almost poop my pants when Jack stands up and stretches and proceeds to walk right toward me. I guess there are times when we all simply have to go to the restroom.

I let Jack pass me but decided to ask him as he exited the restroom. He happily does 1-per (and actually turned down another grapher who asked for a second). I asked him if his grandson had decided on a college — Nick O’Leary is one of the top prospects in the country — and he said “No.” Very friendly again as far as Jack is concerned. I guess pregame he had lectured some local graphers who presumably had pounded him. I didn’t want to overdo it so I left after I got my one.

1969 Topps Honors The NL Home Run Leaders From 1968

1969 Topps Honors The NL Home Run Leaders From 1968

Any time that I can nab a card like this that features not only two of my favorite ‘old-timers’ and two of the most respected men in the sport’s history, I will jump all over it.

And this time, I didn’t have to jump to far either.

Amazingly, for just $1.99, I was able to purchase this card from the 1969 Topps set that pays tribute to the Home Run Leaders of the NL from the 1968 season.

Here it is:

And how did they rank, you ask?  Well, let me tell you…

  1. 36 – Willie McCovey
  2. 33 – Richie Allen
  3. 32 – Ernie Banks

NICE!!!!

Dale Murphy 1988 Donruss – ‘Baseballs Best’

Dale Murphy 1988 Donruss – ‘Baseballs Best’

Oh Yeah, Dale Murphy sees something he likes.  And he is about to tear into it!!!

Donruss didn’t offer us the best pictures in their 1988 Baseball’s Best subset, but every once in a while they gave us something to enjoy.

And this card of Murphy fits that class.  ‘Murph’ was such a fun guy to watch, and whether he was drilling one over the fence or stealing a base or making a great play in the outfield, he did it all at the highest level.
