Ernie Banks 2010 Topps ‘Cards Your Mom Threw Out’

Ernie Banks 2010 Topps ‘Cards Your Mom Threw Out’

I can’t resist scooping these up when I get the chance.  And I actually have been pretty lucky to find so many of the guys that I like in this series!!

This card is a replica of the 1965 Topps design – on of my all-time favorites!!

And while the cards design is not outstanding as compare to today’s issues, back when this card was originally released in 1965, I am sure that collectors enjoyed the fresh look and creative banner!

I know I do!!!

1983 Donruss Wade Boggs – ROOKIE CARD!!!

1983 Donruss Wade Boggs – ROOKIE CARD!!!

It took me some time, but I have finally landed a Wade Boggs rookie to add to my player collection.

I have had his Topps rookie for quite some time.  As a matter of fact, I have carried around for close to 15 years while I was not actively collecting cards.  As you know, he was one of my favorite players when I started collecting in the mid 1980’s so obtaining and holding onto that rookie card for so long is a nice piece of my past that I bring into my current collecting.

And Donruss did a pretty nice job with this one…  Don’t you think?

Did You Know…

During the 2000 season, Dave Martinex achieved the unique feat of hitting a triple for four different teams in the same season.  He tripled twice for Tampa, and once each for the Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, and Toronto Blue Jays.

Happy Birthday Craig Biggio!!

Happy Birthday Craig Biggio!!!

Craig Biggio turns 45 years old today.

A true baseball star, Biggio shined during his 20 seasons with the Houston Astros.  And while he was never classified as the best player in the game, and at times not even the best player on his own team, Craig Biggio may end up being a first ballot Hall of Famer!!

A member of the 3,000 hits club, a 7-time All-star, a 5-time Gold Glove winner, and a 4-time Silver Slugger winner, Biggio’s all-around game made him a a fan favorite and hero in the Houston area for 20 years.

It feels like it was just yesterday that I was scooping up his rookie cards – it’s hard to believe that he is now 45 years old.

Happy Birthday Mr. Biggio!!
