Wade Boggs 1990 Topps All-Star

Wade Boggs 1990 Topps All-Star

The 1990 baseball season was Boggs’ ninth year in the majors.  Amazingly his appearance as an All-Star in 1990 was his 6th.

So, what did Boggs do in 1990 to earn a spot on the American League roster?  Let’s take a look at the numbers…

713 plate appearances, 87 walks, 68 strikeouts, 187 hits, .302 batting average, .386 on-base percentage, 89 runs scored, 44 doubles, 5 triples, 6 home runs, and 63 RBI.

I would certainly say that Wade Boggs was All-Star worthy in 1990.  Do you agree?

As for the card, I find the 1990 Topps design to be one of the worst that I have ever seen.  Way too busy, with way too much going on with their border graphics and colors, the card draws your eye to look at everything but the player being featured…
