Pete Rose & ’30-Year Old Cardboard’

Pete Rose & ’30-Year Old Cardboard’

This post marks #4,192 of the blog.

4,192 is a baseball number that will last for the lifetime of the sport.

So, I am now firmly affixed in second place behind Pete Rose.   Something tells me that if I play my cards right, I will be catching up to ‘Charlie Hustle’ in about 3-4 weeks.

Stay tuned to find out.  And THANK YOU all for the tremendous support!!!

1976 Topps Cincinnati Reds Teams Set – Card #599 – Pat Zachry

1976 Topps Cincinnati Reds Teams Set – Card #599 – Pat Zachry

Pat Zachry spent all of his first season and part of his second with the Cincinnati Reds.

A starting pitcher, Zachry started 40 games for the Reds, compiling a record of 17-14.  His ERA with the club was 3.35 and he threw nine complete games, including two shutouts.

Zachry won a World Series championship during his rookie season with the Reds.  He made one start in the match-up against the Red Sox and picked up the victory.

Ryne Sandberg 2004 Fleer Greats

Ryne Sandberg 2004 Fleer Greats

I wouldn’t call myself a Ryne Sandberg fan, but I do respect what he did on the field at Wrigley.

But I don’t consider myself a Ryne Sandberg collector either.  In fact, I probably have less than five cards of Ryno, and I am fine with that.

And one of those five cards is this one – from the 2004 Fleer Greats set.

The card looks pretty good, huh?  Yeah, I know.  No matter who Fleer threw into this set, the cards all look fantastic.  From the colors to the pictures used to the great frame that holds it all together – Fleer did a fantastic job with this issue!!

Wade Boggs 1990 Donruss – All-Star & Baseball’s Best

Wade Boggs 1990 Donruss – All-Star & Baseball’s Best

2 beauties right here!  And the colors are spectacular!

Both versions of the 1990 Donruss base set, the card on the left is Boggs’ All-Star card and on the right you have the card of Boggs from the Baseball’s Best subset.

2 fantastic additions to my Wade Boggs collection!  And great pics too!!
