Robin Yount 2011 Topps ’60 Years Of Topps’

Robin Yount 2011 Topps ’60 Years Of Topps’

Wow, would you look at those curly, curly locks on the top of Yount’s head.  If it entertains me, I have to wonder what the Hall of Famer thinks when he sees pictures of his hair from his early playing days…

Just 1 of the many reason that I love these reprint cards – Memories!!

Tony Gwynn 1988 Donruss – MVP!!

Tony Gwynn 1988 Donruss – MVP!!

Was Tony Gwynn worthy of the MVP tag as the San Diego Padres representative in the 1988 Donruss baseball card set?

The numbers say, “YES”.  Batting .313 and collecting 163 hits, Tony Gwynn continued his amazing display of hitting in 1988.  Of his 163 hits, 7 were home runs, 5 were triples, 22 were doubles, and an amazing 127 went for singles!  He was also responsible for driving in 70 runs, stealing 26 bases, and scoring 64 times.

MVP worthy?  Oh, Yeah!!!

Did You Know…

Roger Clemens holds the American League record for most consecutive games won, with 20:  15 with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1998 and another 5 with the New York Yankees at the beginning of the 1999 season.

Missing Ron Santo.

Missing Ron Santo.

This afternoon I listened to the Cubs/Reds game on my Iphone while at work.  During the week, I am usually able to catch 2-3 games during the day if the MLB schedule allows.

Well, this afternoon I guess that it hit me.  Today, I really missed Ron Santo.  While not the best, or most gifted, or most eloquent announcer in a major league booth, there was no doubt that Ron Santo lived and breathed baseball; specifically Cubby baseball.

We miss you Mr. Santo.  Rest In Peace.
