OK, let’s get right down to it.

I’ve shown you the legends that I would like to add to my collection.

And I have shown you the guys that will soon be calling Cooperstown home that I would like to add to my collection.

So, now it is time for me to show you the “Top Ten” players in the game today that I would like to add to my collection.

And away we go….

And now onto the “Top Ten”.

  1. I actually got Mariano’s this past Spring Training TTM. I got him to sign a card for me. I sent him a baseball last year, but I don’t think that is coming back. I aslo put in a bunch of cards for him as an offer as well. It would be nice to have it show about a year later as a surprise. I also got Jim Thome TTM on a card when he was with the White Sox a couple of years ago. Everybody else I would have to agree with you as far as wanting them.

  2. My current #1 would be Thome. When I interviewed him last year in Minn., I had to resist the urge to ask him to sign a ball (an interview no-no). I would never breach the etiquette, but it was hard.
    My list would be
Thome, Braun, Pujols, Posada, Victorino, Ichiro, Mauer, Michael Young, Magglio Ordonez and Ryan Theriot.
A few HOF, a few All-Stars and a few sentimental favorites.

  3. Great lists – good luck in your pursuits. I have about 35 or so HOFer signed balls, myself. They were all TTM, I kind of made a rule for myself to pay for the ball and postage only. I started with our oldest legends first and It worked pretty well until I reached the Mays/Aarons of the list. At that point, requests for $ donations to their respective charities accompanied my returned, un-signed balls.

To an extent, I understand the good that these guys can do so I’m okay w/ it BUT as a baseball fan…. I sure would love to add them to the collection. I often flirt, dangerously, with dream acquisitions on the pages of eBay but I can’t make myself pull the trigger yet. Only time will tell, as well as the family budget, of course.

What are everyone’s thoughts on eBay/Internet signed balls? Are PSA/DNA or JSA COA ever in question? Has anybody ever been burnt with a ball that has showed up w/ a surprising amount of toning or just wasn’t what you thought? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts because I feel a strong pull to make some investments as our beloved Past Time’s legends prepare to join that “Field of Dreams” in the sky. I would expect prices to increase at that point, but then again, perhaps enough collectors have been willing and had the means to purchase these pieces and there’s a sufficient supply out there.

Let me know what you think! Great list, though – makes me want to fire up the TTM-sweat shop again and reach out to some more heroes, HOF or not.

    Have a good week everybody.

    • Ryan-
Thanks for reading. I am very interested to know who you have received for free via TTM as I am always looking to build on my HOF collection. Do you have any recent returns that you can inform me of? Lately my conquests have come through the mail but via the ‘donation to my foundation’ method. Still, the autos work out to be cheaper than a paid signing and through Ebay so I cannot complain… But I am always interested in going after more so let me know… Thanks.
