One More Perfectly Signed Andre Dawson Baseball For The Collection!!!

One More Perfectly Signed Andre Dawson Baseball For The Collection!!!

I don’t want to drag this one out any longer than necessary…

A while back I attended a signing with Andre Dawson and one of the other people in line was holding an item that I had never seen before – and I knew that I had to have one.  After a bit of small talk, there was no way that I was going to talk him out of the item so I just crossed my fingers and hoped that I would find one again at a later date.

Well, I searched and searched and searched some more and then it happened – on Ebay!!

It has to be the same guy that I met that afternoon as the seller was shipping from Weston, FL – the same city that the signing was held in.

So, I waited and stalked my prey – and then I ATTACKED!!!!

And today, I hold the prize.

Come see…

Awesome, huh???

Before the Montreal Expos franchise folded they called Puerto Rico home for an short period of time.  So, Rawlings and their brilliant marketing team came out with limited edition baseballs commemorating that time in the franchise’s history.

And now I am the very, very proud owner of a baseball that commemorates that event – and it happens to be signed by my favorite baseball player of all-time!!!

Sorry – I guess I really didn’t make that long story any shorter…

Oh, and if you’re keeping track at home, this is the 7th signed ball in my Dawson collection!!!  YES!!!

Thanks for reading!!!

Wade Boggs 2002 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic Game-Used Jersey Card

Wade Boggs 2002 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic Game-Used Jersey Card

Just like the Gary Carter card that I showed off a few weeks ago from the same set, this card of Wade Boggs looks just like money!!!

And just like you, I love money and I love this card too!

I just wish that a certain former Expos and Cubs player was featured in this set…

Rickey Henderson 1995 Fleer ‘Diamond Tribute’

Rickey Henderson 1995 Fleer ‘Diamond Tribute’

Now this is the Rickey that I know and love!!!

Everything that I remember about Rickey and his running style are captured on this baseball card issued by Fleer in 1995.

From the pumping arms to the powerful strides to the concentration on his face – this card has it all!

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, and I hope at least one of you are, Rickey stole 32 bases in 1995 while getting caught 10 times.

Dwight Gooden 1992 Upper Deck

Dwight Gooden 1992 Upper Deck

There is something about this card…  I just cannot put my finger on it.

I know that the image is not as sharp and clear as what we expect to see from Upper Deck.  The more I look and concentrate on the photo, it kind of looks cartoonish to me…

Do you see what I am seeing?  Or am I just crazy??

1987 Headline – ‘Tom Seaver Retires’

1987 Headline – ‘Tom Seaver Retires’

On this day in 1987 Tom Seaver hung up his spikes.

On of the most decorated pitchers of his era, Seaver was a dominant force in the game of baseball for 20 seasons.  A Rookie of the Year award winner.  A 3-time Cy Young Award winner and 2-time runner-up.  A 12-time all-star.  A World Series Champion.  A member of baseball’s elite 300 wins club.  A member of the 3,000 strikeout club.  The list goes on and on.

When a pitcher like Tom Seaver calls an end to their career, one has to wonder how someone will fill the very big shoes left by such an absence in the game.  It’s simple really, very few players could ever replace Tom Seaver in their pitching rotations.  Many have tried, and few have succeeded!!

Happy Anniversary Mr. Seaver!!!
