Andre Dawson 2011 ’60 Years Of Topps’ – Base & Original Back

Andre Dawson 2011 ’60 Years Of Topps’ – Base & Original Back

Just adding some more modern issues to my Andre Dawson collection right here.

These two cards are from the ’60 Years Of Topps’ subset issued in series 2 of the 2011 Topps baseball card set.

The cards are replicas of the 1985 Topps base card – hence the similar fronts.

But the backs are different, as I have landed myself both the ‘Diamond’ and ‘Original’ back versions!

2 more for the collection!!  YIPPEE!!!!

Tony Gwynn 1993 Topps Black Gold – Bling, Bling!!!

Tony Gwynn 1993 Topps Black Gold – Bling, Bling!!!

Pretty sweet looking card of one of the greatest hitters in baseball history right here fellas!!

The 1993 Topps Black Gold design looks great, almost twenty years after its release.

And back in the early ’90s, a design like this was mind-blowing!!  All of that Gold – this card was ‘Bling-Blingin’!!!  LOL

And I love how Gwynn’s Oakley shades match the Gold shine of the Black Gold design!!!

Did You Know…

Ken and Bob Forsch are the only brothers to have thrown no-hitters in the major leagues.  Ken’s came for the Astros on April 7, 1979 and Bob pitched two no-hitters for the Cardinals with one on April 16, 1978 and the other on September 26, 1983.

Happy Anniversary Eric Davis!!!

Happy Anniversary Eric Davis!!!

On this day in 1987, Eric Davis collected his 30th home run of the baseball season gaining him entrance into the ’30/30 Club’.

The landmark homer that put him into this elite status came in just his third major league season.  And with his raw ability at the plate and uncanny speed on the base paths, Davis had many fans thinking ’40/40′ was in his near future.

Officially, Davis completed the 1987 baseball season with 37 home runs and 50 steals.  1987 was the most well-rounded offensive season of his career, and he would never reach the ’30/30′ mark again.

Happy Anniversary Mr. Davis!!!

Happy Anniversary Willie McCovey!!!

Happy Anniversary Willie McCovey!!!

On this day in 1959 Willie McCovey hit the first home run of his major league career.

Just 3 days after making his big league debut, McCovey made his first mark with the Giants.  And nobody knew that 520 more bombs would follow over the next 22 seasons.

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary Mr. McCovey!!!
