Fergie Jenkins 2005 Upper Deck Origins
Just a sweet, old-school image of Fergie Jenkins on a great, modern baseball card with a vintage twist!!
I’m really loving this one too….
From the Black and White photo. To the background of Wrigley Field. To the classic Fergie Jenkins stare from the pitcher’s mound.
Bring It On!!!

Bob Gibson 2000 Upper Deck ‘Legends’
Here he is, one of the most feared hurlers that the game of baseball has ever seen…
It’s no wonder that Upper Deck would include a player of Bob Gibson’s caliber into a set titled ‘Legends’.
Gibson had unreal ‘stuff’ – and if you ask any of the National Leaguers that faced him on a regular basis, he changed up his game enough during his career so you could not build up any level of confidence when facing him!
And isn’t that what being a legend is all about. The stories???
I think so, and I also think that Upper Deck mad a great decision by including Gibson in this set.
Great job, UD!!!

Dennis Eckersley 1987 Donruss
While this card features ‘The Eck’ pitching for my favorite team of the 1980’s, I have to say that the card doesn’t really work for me.
It’s just way too dark for my liking.
And while I wouldn’t expect any card company to change their design for a large set based on the look and feel of just one card, Donruss could have easily injected another picture of Eckersley that was a lot brighter.
Between the Black border, dark sleeves, background this card is just not to my liking. Still, I am happy to be able to cross another ‘need’ off of my Dennis Eckersley player checklist!!

Greg Maddux 2001 Upper Deck SP Game Used Edition Jersey Card
If you’re a fan of the blog, and I hope and pray that you are by now, than you know that I prefer my Greg Maddux cards with a certain Chicago swagger to them.
But, at the same time, I am a realist and I know that ‘The Professor’ had the greatest successes of his career as a member of the Atlanta Braves.
So, when I saw this card come across Ebay with no bids and a low asking price of just $1.99, I took the bait and made the purchase.
And you know what, I am glad that I did.
Here’s the card:
