Signing Results: Big Red Machine Member, Dave Concepcion!!!

Signing Results:  Big Red Machine Member, Dave Concepcion!!!

I am very excited about this one.  I found out about Concepcion doing a signing near Cincinnati through the website www.signingshotline.com.  I immediately jumped at the chance to add him to my collection as from what I have seen, he does maybe 1-2 signings a year.

After talking to the woman at the store, I was all set – the 7th ball for my collection of ‘The Big Red Machine’ had been ordered!!!!  I could hardly wait…

A few weeks have passed and then this landed at my doorstep last night:

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!!!  I am loving this baseball!!!

For more than 6 months I shopped for a signed Concepcion baseball – and almost bought one a few times.  Thankfully, my patience prevailed as this one here is a beauty!!!

Along with the ball, I received a COA, a picture of Mr. Concepcion signing a baseball, and the ticket for the signing!!

All in all, I am thrilled with my purchase – and even more thrilled that I was able to hold out and wait for this bad-boy!!!

Enjoy.

Reggie Jackson 2007 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic – Game Used Jersey Card!!!

Reggie Jackson 2007 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic – Game Used Jersey Card!!!

YES!!!  Another great relic card featuring Mr. October – Reggie Jackson!!!

And this one features  a young Reggie during his first stint with the Oakland A’s.  And by the look of the uniform, I am guessing that this picture was taken sometime during the very early 1970’s – a Jackson era that I love!!!

Come take a look:

Nice, huh?

Yep.  An instant hit for my collection.  Actually, an instant home run!!!

Enjoy.

Andre Dawson 1988 Topps – Tiffany!

Andre Dawson 1988 Topps – Tiffany!

Another beautiful Topps Tiffany for the Andre Dawson collection!!!

This one, from the 1988 Topps issue, looks great!  Started off by a great action photo, the extra glossy finish that the Tiffany brand offered sets the card off perfectly.

I wish you could see the difference between this one and the base version…

Bo Jackson 1990 Donruss Baseball’s Best

Bo Jackson 1990 Donruss Baseball’s Best

The Blue that Donruss used on their 1990 Baseball’s Best set works very well with Bo’s uniform.

My question is this – Was Bo Jackson one of baseball’s best during the 1990 baseball season?

The answer is – As a fan favorite, absolutely.  As a player ranked amongst his peers, not so much.  Most of his numbers are quite pedestrian – .272 batting average, 110 hits, 15 steals.  But the one number that does stand out is his home run tally – 28!!!

28 of Bo’s 110 hits in 1990 landed beyond the outfield fence – good for a 25.4% clip.  I would have to think that this stat indeed made Bo one of baseball’s best sluggers in 1990!!!

Did You Know….

Casey Stengel wore the uniform of all four New York major league baseball clubs.  Stengel played for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1912-1917 and again from 1924-1925.  He also played for the New York Giants from 1921-1923.  As a manager, Stengel managed the Dodgers from 1934-1936, the New York Yankees from 1949-1960, and the New York Mets from 1962-1965.
