1975 Topps Oakland Athletics Team Card

1975 Topps Oakland Athletics Team Card

The 1975 baseball season was Billy Williams’ first season with the Oakland A’s.

Still used as a full-time player, Williams was shifted to DH upon his entry into the American League.  And while he was still productive, with 602 plate appearances in 1975, he was hardly as productive as he was during his time with the Cubs.

His numbers from 1975 – 127 hits, .244 batting average, 20 doubles, 23 home runs, 68 runs scored, 81 RBI, and a very impressive 76 walks (7 intentional).

Kind of odd to see Billy appearing on a team card that does not sport the Red, White, and Blue of the Chicago Cubs, but there he is in row three, 4th from the left.

  1. Brian, I hate to be the bearer of bad news again, but the team picture on a 1975 card would have been taken in 1974. Billy was still on the Cubs in 1974. If I had to guess, I would say that the player in the third row, fourth from the left is Jesus Alou. But he is on the Cubs 1975 team card, first row, fourth from the left.
