My Signed Andre Dawson Chicago Cubs Mini Helmet Is Home!!!! YES!!!

My Signed Andre Dawson Chicago Cubs Mini Helmet Is Home!!!!  YES!!!

You may recall that a few weeks ago, I sent a package to Andre Dawson in hopes of one more autograph to end 2011.

Let me backtrack for a second – not only did I send a Cubs helmet to Mr. Dawson for an autograph, but I actually took that helmet, removed the old autograph, and then sent it to him in hopes of a new one…  Don’t believe me?  Click here to view that story.

Ok, back to today – an excellent mail day!!!

Here is the latest addition to my Andre Dawson signed mini helmet collection:

And this time, the autograph is exactly where I needed it to be – YES!!!

Thank you Mr. Dawson – you have pleased this fan once again.  You are the BEST!!!

Bob Gibson 2004 Topps All-Time Fan Favorites

Bob Gibson 2004 Topps All-Time Fan Favorites

Hey, another modern-era card of one of my favorite guys from the past – Hall of Famer, Bob Gibson!!

Using the same design as the 1970 base card design, this card is a fantastic re-print of that great, Gray design.

Take a look:

I have just one issue here – and if you know me and this blog, than you know that the issue is the photo.

Seriously, Gibson was one of the greatest pitchers from the 1970s, and has to have been one of the most photographed as well.  So, why did Topps go with this one??

We will never know…

Wade Boggs 1989 Topps All-Star Glossy

Wade Boggs 1989 Topps All-Star Glossy

Such a great looking design, I wish that Topps gave us a nice photo to accompany it…

At this stage of his career, Wade Boggs was a perennial All-Star and the images that were available of him to use for a ‘special’ baseball card should have been plentiful.

I just wish that Topps made the same efforts that they did in their photo selection because the graphics of the card’s design are AWESOME!!!

My First Time – Joe Nathan – April 21, 1999

My First Time – Joe Nathan – April 21, 1999

The Setting – 3Com Park.  San Francisco, CA.

From Nathan – ‘My first start was against the Marlins.  I had got there the night before and was able to scout a bit – watch the hitters up close and all that.  I did real well, seven shutout innings – they gave me the game ball and lineup card’.

The Boxscore – Giants 4, Marlins 0.  Nathan gets the win, throwing 7 innings, allowing 4 hits and striking out 4 batters.
