Jim Palmer 2005 Upper Deck Heroes Game-Used Jersey Card #71/99

Jim Palmer 2005 Upper Deck Heroes Game-Used Jersey Card #71/99

I’m not sure why, but the Green color of this baseball card looks very Aqua-esque on this scan.  Trust me, this card is a bright, bright Green.  Think Kermit times ten.

And I have to say, that while I am not a huge fan of the color Green, that color along with the circular frame that rests behind the image, it really makes the photo of Jim Palmer leap off of the card.  Almost 3-Dimensional…

Have a look:

This card is from the 2005 version of Upper Deck’s Baseball Heroes set.  I like the set, but I will admit that I prefer the 2008 version to this one.

Still, anytime you (or I) can add a Hall of Fame relic card to your collection for just $0.99 it has to be considered.  So, I did consider it and then I clicked!!

Oh, the card is also serial numbered  – this one is 71/99.

Andre Dawson 2005 Donruss Playoff Prestige – Purple

Andre Dawson 2005 Donruss Playoff Prestige – Purple

Another parallel version of an Andre Dawson baseball card to add to my list – OH YEAH!!!

This one comes courtesy of the 2005 Donruss release tagged as ‘Playoff Prestige’.  This card is the ‘Purple’ version of the base card and is serial numbered to just 150 copies.  The one that I scored happens to be #55.

Here it is:

The card is nice, and I really like the Cubs photo that Donruss chose for this one.  But compared to the base card, I don’t really care for the Purple theme that this card has.

Still, another great addition to my blossoming collection.

Thanks.

Dave Winfield 2004 Upper Deck Legends – ‘Timeless Teams’

Dave Winfield 2004 Upper Deck Legends – ‘Timeless Teams’

I love this brand of cards, but sometimes their image choices left a little to be desired.  And this card of Dave Winfield is a good example.

Have a look:

The card celebrates Winfield’s 1985 baseball season.  And that fun-filled year consisted of 174 hits, .275 batting average, 34 doubles, 6 triples, 26 home runs, 19 stolen bases, 105 runs scored, and 114 RBI.  Winfield was an All-Star, Gold Glove winner, and Silver Slugger winner in 1985 too.

Great season!!

Kirby Puckett 1991 Fleer Ultra

Kirby Puckett 1991 Fleer Ultra

I really enjoy the crisp photography that the Fleer Ultra brand brought us.  And while they had some stiff competition from Upper Deck and Topps Stadium Club, the brand was certainly able to hold its own.

This card of Kirby Puckett from the 1991 set looks fantastic.  The picture is crisp and clean of Kirby, while offering a muted background of the Twins dugout.

And as for Mr. Puckett, his 1991 season was solid.  My favorite stat of his from that campaign?

.352

That is a pretty solid on-base percentage for a guy that had the skills to amass .300 batting averages while also driving in 80+ a year!!

Atta Boy Kirby!!!
