Baseball Card Show TONIGHT!!!!
Man, it is amazing how quickly the months are passing us by….
At least for this South Florida baseball card collector, the begining of a new month promises another trip to a baseball card show.
And I have to say that the Friday night show is so much better for my shcedule. Since the show is roughly 45 minutes from my house, the entire trip would consume close to three hours of my wekeend, and I really try to not take that kind of time away from my family. But on Fridays, we can eat dinner together, do homework, play, and then I am off while they go through their bedtime routines… Much better for this Dad!!!
Anyways, I have a few goals for this card show. They are:
- 2012 Topps Heritage Miami Marlins SPs
- Andre Dawson 2012 Topps Gypsy Queens
- Hanley, Hanley, Hanley
- GU HOF relic cards
- Bryce Harper cards
- Bargains, Bargains, Bargains!!
We’ll see how it goes.
And I am really hoping that one of the sellers that was not present at the last show is there this time around. He is the one that I bought most of my Fan-Favorites and Archives from and I am missing those cards! Fingers are crossed!!!
And I will stick to my format of showing off the haul of my purchases with you on Monday. Stay tuned for what I hope will be a day full of great posts and even better baseball cards.
Have a great weekend everyone!!!

May 8, 2012 Atlanta Braves VS Chicago Cubs Commemorative Ticket Featuring Andre Dawson
This is the second 2012 commemorative tickets issued by the Chicago Cubs that I have picked up. I like that the ticket features players from prior Cubs’ eras – especially when they honor my favorite player – Andre Dawson.
In case you missed seeing my ticket from the game on April 8th that also featured ‘The Hawk’, you can view it here.
And here is the one from the game on May 8 that I just brought home:
I have no idea how many more Dawson-themed tickets the Cubs plan on offering this season, but if and when they issue more, I will be waiting!!
And a few Fergie Jenkins tickets would be nice too…

Joe Morgan 2003 Upper Deck – UD Authentics
This card of Joe Morgan from the 2003 UD Authentics set looks really good. Sadly, the scan does not do the card that much justice.
Here is the card:
The Red is a lot more vivid in person. Blame that on my scanner…
But, I would also say that if Upper Deck had included a few more Red accents on the card it may look even better…
The should have colored Morgan’s helmet, stirrups, belt, and jersey number and nameplate in Red.
Then it could have been tagged as a ‘Work Of Art’!!!
Maybe next time…

My First Time – Jim Thome – September 4, 1991
The Setting – The Metrodome. Minneapolis, Minnesota.
From Thome – ‘I was 20 going on 21 and I am going to play at the Metrodome. I saw Kirby Puckett during the first batting practice, and around the cage. He actually walked by and said hello to me – he made it a point to say ‘Welcome’ and I’ll always remember that’.
The Boxscore – Indians 8, Twins 4. Thome goes 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.
