1994 Donruss Studio Florida Marlins Team Set
OK Guys, you know the rules.
It’s your Senior picture, but we have to stick to the guidelines mandated by the administration. We can use props, but only ones that have been approved. And you have to be clean-shaven, no fuzz, no beards, and no long hair.
Are you ready?
OK, then let’s do this!!!
Sheffield, what did I tell you – you must be clean shaven. Get out of here. Go to LA or New York…

Kirby Puckett ‘Fab Five’ – Card #2 – 1986 Topps
Now that my Kirby Puckett collection is complete, it is time to show of my favorite five cards from the set.
Card #2 – 1986 Topps
During the near 4-year stretch that I have been running this blog, I have fondly called the 1986 Topps set the ‘Stencil Set’.
The design is basic, the pictures are large, and the lone graphic element looks like it could have been done with a set of stencils.
This card of Kirby Puckett looks great. The Red used in the team nameplate is a perfect complement to the Red of Kirby’s Twins uniform.
And I also love the full follow-through that the photographer captured for this image!!!
Have a look:

Derek Jeter 2005 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia
Over the last few years, I have picked up a small stack of cards from this set.
And almost all of them are just too dark for my liking. From the Frank Robinson to the Rod Carew to the Ron Santo – they are all dark, dark, dark!
But the Jeter??
It is not too dark. In fact, it is pretty ‘well lit’ if you ask me.
And I am digging it!!!
Have a peek:

My First Time – David Wells – June 30, 1987
The Setting – Exhibition Stadium. Toronto, Canada.
From Wells – ‘I was out with the guys and did not get in until after 1 A.M. – imagine that! Well, there is a message on my machine to call Doug Ault (manager) no matter what time it was. I got the call-up!!!’
The Boxscore – Yankees 4, Blue Jays 0. Wells takes the loss while going just four innings, allowing 9 hits and 4 runs.

Happy Birthday Mark Grace!!
Amazingly, Mark Grace turns 48 years old today!!
One of my favorite Cubs players of all-time, Mark Grace was so much fun to watch. It’s not often that you get to witness watching a player have fun day in and day out during his playing days. But with Mark Grace, that is exactly what you got!!
A guy with an incredible swing and defensive skills to match, Grace was an all-around baseball star. While never the most celebrated player on his roster, Grace was certainly the most consistent. His approach at the plate was consistent enough to yield him more hits than ANY other player in the decade of the 1990’s – WoW!!!
For Mr. Grace’s birthday I want to get him a flag. Not just an ordinary, run-of-the-mill flag though… I want this one to be special. I want it to be White in color with Blue letters and numbers. And while we’re at it, let’s slap his name and #17 on it and hang it from a pole in the outfield at Wrigley Field(a place Gracey called home for 13 amazing years)!!
Happy Birthday Gracey!!!

Andre Dawson 2001 Leaf Certified Materials ‘Fabric Of The Game’ Game-Used Jersey Card
This card is far from great. In fact, of all of the relic cards of Dawson that I am missing, this one is probably classified as ‘not very exciting’.
Still, it is Andre Dawson. And I am a collector of all things Andre Dawson.
Thankfully, this one set me back just a few bucks…
