2000 Topps Florida Marlins Team Set

2000 Topps Florida Marlins Team Set

I keep plugging away on this ‘Team Set Project’, and it is a lot of fun.

Not only are the cards fun to look back at, but the memories that they bring are pretty sweet as well.

My latest purchase is the 2000 Topps team set – and it is full of player that represent both the past and the future, at least they did in 2000…

Have a look:

From the past, you had just a few guys left on the squad, like Castillo, Fernandez, and Cliff Floyd.

And then you saw a glimpse of the future too in Mike Lowell and Preston Wilson.

As for my favorite card from the set?  Silly question; it is Mike Lowell of course!!  After all, he is my favorite All-Time Marlins player.

Fergie Jenkins 2002 Topps Archives – 1969 National League Pitching Leaders

With so much attention, and rightfully so,  being paid to the release of the 2012 Topps Archives set it is hard as a player collector to not get immersed in it myself.

Lucky for me, my ‘Saved Searches’ in my Ebay account help me stay focused.

And about 8-9 days ago, I was shown a card is one of my many Fergie Jenkins related searches that I have not seen before.

Well, let me correct that last statement.  I have seen the card before, just not the version from the 2002 Archives issue.

Have a look and you will see what I mean:

I never knew that this card was a part of a modern-era set.  But I  am thrilled that I found it, and even more thrilled that I was able to buy it.

So, now I own the one from 1970.  And 2002!!!

Reggie Jackson 2012 Topps Gypsy Queen – ‘MOONSHOTS’

Reggie Jackson 2012 Topps Gypsy Queen – ‘MOONSHOTS’

The 2012 Gypsy Queen release brings us some really neat ideas for subsets.  And as a big fan of the subset, I am considering collecting a few of them myself.

But, while that decision has yet to be made at this point, I was not going to stop myself from picking up this card of Reggie Jackson from the ‘MOONSHOTS’ set.

Have a look:

I am really digging this one – and you know what, the Purple border is not as bad as what I expected to find when I saw it in person…

Time for me to check out the full checklist of this set.  It may be a goal worth going after.

Stay tuned.

Frank Robinson 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen – Green Border

Frank Robinson 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen – Green Border

I scooped up this beauty for just thirty cents on www.sportlots.com last week.  And while I wasn’t specifically shopping for this card, I was not going to pass it up when I saw the price tag.

I already have the base version of this one, so this ‘Green’ parallel version is a nice piece to accompany my other cards of Robinson from the Gypsy Queen set.

Here it is:
