Reggie Jackson 2012 Topps Gypsy Queen

Reggie Jackson 2012 Topps Gypsy Queen

Besides the player that I am building ‘super collections’ of, there are a few guys that I will buy cards of without a second guess.

Some of the guys on the list:

Frank Robinson

Joe Morgan

Rickey Henderson

Brooks Robinson

and Reggie Jackson.

While at card shows, if I discover a card of one of these fellas, I scoop it up.  If I am shopping with a seller on Ebay, I check all of their auctions to see if they have any cards of these guys that I may like.

I recently bought this card.  It was an ‘add-on’ to another auction that I won.

But you know what, it can also take ‘Center Stage’!!!

Jim Palmer 2003 Fleer Fall Classic

Jim Palmer 2003 Fleer Fall Classic

Anytime a set that honors World Series play, Jim Palmer should be included.

In 19 big league seasons, Jim Palmer and his Baltimore Orioles played in 6 World Series match-ups.

Ultimately, the team won three titles, in 1966, 1970, and 1983.  Palmer is only one of very few that can claim to have won a championship in three different decades.

A true World Series legend!!

And a great card, too!

Jim Abbott 1989 Bowman – ROOKIE CARD!!!

Jim Abbott 1989 Bowman – ROOKIE CARD!!!

While I am not a fan of the explosion of baseball card brands that hit the shelves in the 1990’s, the late 1980’s offered up a nice chance to add a few more cards to my player collections.

Between 1988 and 1989, three new mainstream brands hit the shelves – Score, Upper Deck, and Bowman.

And since Jim Abbott broke on the scene in 1989 – we had a chance to grab a bigger handful of cards at this time.

This is Abbott’s rookie baseball card from the 1989 Bowman set.

Did You Know…

Brothers Gaylord and Jim Perry won a combined 209 games during the 1960’s.  It was Jim who set the pace capturing 114 wins, while his brother Gaylord won 95.
