Willie Stargell 2002 Upper Deck World Series Heroes

Willie Stargell played in the big leagues for 22 seasons.  He made it to the playoffs in six of those seasons, and ended up playing in two World Series match-ups: 1971 & 1979.

Stargell and his Pittsburgh Pirates teammates wound up on the winning side of both of those World Series battles, securing the championship in each series.  In total, Stargell played in 14 World Series games and compiled some pretty solid numbers.  Those numbers include: 12 hits in 30 at-bats, good for a .400 batting average; 4 doubles; 3 home runs; 7 runs scored; 7 RBI.

Stargell’s play in the 1979 World Series was solid enough to garner the World Series MVP Award.
