Andre Dawson 2011 Playoff Prime Cuts ‘Emblems Of The Hall’ Game-Used Relic Card

Andre Dawson 2011 Playoff Prime Cuts ‘Emblems Of The Hall’ Game-Used Relic Card

I am amazed, and excited, by how little I had to pay for this card.  I don’t know if it was poorly advertised on Ebay, but for some reason, I had no competition bidding against me for this bad-boy.

I ended up paying just under $5.00 for this game-used jersey relic card.  And it is serial numbered as 23/25!!

Have a look:

GU DAWSON EMBLEMS

Sure, it is not the best looking relic card of Dawson issued in 2011, but it is not bad either.

I like the frame around Dawson’s photo.  and the crossed bats behind the frame are great too.

Overall, I am very happy with this purchase, and the fact that I picked up a card serial numbered to just 25 copies for under $5.00 is a great deal in my book!!

Mike Schmidt 2012 Topps Golden Greats – “All Aboard Schmidt’s Shoulders”

Mike Schmidt 2012 Topps Golden Greats – “All Aboard Schmidt’s Shoulders”

Another sweet card from the 2012 Topps baseball card set.  This one comes courtesy of the in-set subset tagged as ‘Golden Greats’.

The card features Mike Schmidt in his Powder-Blue Phillies uniform and that is enough to get this collector very excited.  I used to love those old unis!!!

Check out the card:

VINTAGE SCHMIDT

The 3-D effect of having Schmidt’s helmet overlap the border of the card is a very nice touch.

As for the card itself, it honors a game on April 17, 1976 when Schmidt led his Phillies team from a 12-1 deficit to a 18-16 win over the Cubs.  In the game, Schmidt banged four home runs, including one in extra innings.  He tallied 8 RBI on the day.

Dave Parker 1975 Topps Baseball Card

Dave Parker 1975 Topps Baseball Card

Gotta love the 75’s!!!

The two-toned borders of the 1975 Topps baseball card design are uber-famous amongst vintage collectors.  And while the duo of colors may not have always been a perfect match for the team or player that was being featured, they were certainly reminiscent of the time period.

This card of Dave Parker from the 1975 Topps set features a Dark-Green, Light-Green border, and while not necessarily a perfect match for the Pittsburgh Pirates, it does go very well with the turf stationed behind Parker in the photo.

1981 HEADLINE: Bob Gibson Elected To Baseball Hall Of Fame

Bob Gibson has the reputation as one of the toughest players to ever take to the pitching mound.  And his numbers are equally as tough!  In seventeen seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, Gibson composed a 251-174 record.  He has a career ERA of 2.91 alongside 3,117 strikeouts.  Gibson was a 8-time All-star, 2-time Cy Young award winner, league MVP, 9-time Gold Glove winner, and a 2-time World Series champion.

Gibson was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on his first ballot.  He collected 337 of 401 votes cast.

SIGNING RESULTS: Hall Of Famer, Dennis Eckersley!!!

SIGNING RESULTS:  Hall Of Famer, Dennis Eckersley!!!

I have wanted a Dennis Eckersley signed baseball in my collection for a very long time.  I consider ‘Eck’ to be one of the best pitchers from my generation, and he is one of the most decorated as well.  I really got into baseball, and learning about the game right when Eckersley and his Oakland Athletic teammates started to dominate the sport in the late 1980’s.  That team had all of the tools, and ‘Eck’ was the guy to come in and slam the door on the opposition.  He did that marvelously, and almost flawlessly too!!!

Eckersley’s autograph is pretty unique.  I cannot tell you that I would recognize it if I did not know that it is his, but since I know what his signature looks like, it is has become very recognizable to me.

Have a look at the newest signed baseball in my collection:

Eckersley

Looks great, right??  Gotta love the ‘HOF’ inscription!!

One of the more prominent members from an autograph website that I frequent was hosting a private signing with Eckersley and the price was perfect!  So, I jumped in and I am very glad that I did.  Not only was the execution of the signing flawless, but I now have another Hall Of Fame signed baseball in my collection.

AWESOME!!!
