Andre Dawson 1996 Pacific Collection – Gold Prism
I still keep a sharp eye on Andre Dawson baseball cards from his playing days that I do not have in my collection.
And while scoring new cards from that time period is becoming harder and harder to do, especially on a budget, I do enjoy the hunt.
And when the reward from the hunt is a new card for my Andre Dawson super collection, it is thrilling. New cardboard is a lot of fun, especially when you have never seen it before.
This card of Dawson is from the 1996 Pacific Collection Gold Prism set.
Have a peek:
I already owned the base card of Dawson from this set. And to be honest, I never knew that this Gold Prism version was out there. But, when I saw it, I immediately recognized it as ‘New’ and I pounced quickly.
The card is the same as the base card, just with an added Golden prism design in the background. You don’t get to see it in the scan, but it is actually pretty shiny.

Fergie Jenkins 2008 Donruss Threads Diamond Kings – Base
I was quickly running out of cards of Fergie Jenkins to feature at ’30-YOC’. And that is not a good thing. I really want to focus more attention to my Jenkins and Palmer collections this year, but Fergie is getting left out of more and more modern releases.
Luckily, I still need quite a few from years back. I was lucky enough to find a small handful at COMC.com so I scooped them all up and adding 7 new cards of Fergie to my collection.
This card comes from the 2008 Donruss Threads Diamond Kings set. It is the base card. And it looks great!
Have a look:
I know that there are several versions of this card out there. I am going to have to find an official checklist so I can try to go after them all.
And let me just say that this 2008 Diamond Kings baseball card is so much more appealing to me than the ones from the 1980’s!!!

2008 Upper Deck Basbeall Heroes With Nolan Ryan, Greg Maddux, And Randy Johnson
I’m always eager to check out any multi-player cards issued in modern sets. For me, I just really like to examine the pairings of the players.
Some are done with a team theme. Some are done due to some kind of comparable feat. And some simply make no sense at all.
This card is from the 2008 Upper Deck Baseball Heroes set and it features Nolan Ryan, Greg Maddux, and Randy Johnson.
Take a look:
There is no debating that these are three of the most accomplished pitchers of the last 40 years. Ryan is a Hall of Famer, and both Greg Maddux and Randy Johnson will rightfully sit beside him in Cooperstown when they are eligible for election.
Between the three of these players, you are looking at 982 pitching wins and 13,906 strikeouts.

1984 Donruss ‘Living Legends’ Starring Gaylord Perry & Rollie Fingers
Donruss really tried to honor the retiring legends of the sport in the mid-1980’s.
Their ‘Living Legends’ set was very small, but it was a nice way to celebrate the careers of future Hall of Famers by giving their fans one more card to collect.
This card is from the 1984 Donruss set, and it was a nice send-0ff for Gaylord Perry and Rollie Fingers.
Have a look:
It’s not nearly as nice as what Upper Deck would produce years later, but we do appreciate the thought!
Thank you, Donruss!

One More Andre Dawson / Chicago Cubs Commemorative Ticket From The 2012 Baseball Season!!!
The Chicago Cubs marketing department deserves a round of applause! In 2012, they issued special commemorative tickets to their season ticket holders that featured legendary Cubs players with various Topps baseball cards as the centerpiece.
I have seen a bunch of them, and they all look great. And they have become quite collectible too!
I picked up another one last week, and it arrived in the mail yesterday. The ticket is from Game 48 at Wrigley Field, and it features Andre’s 1988 Topps All-Star card.
Have a look:
This is the third commemorative ticket that I have scored that features Dawson. I believe that there are only three bearing his likeness, so this trio is now complete!
Here is a look at all three tickets, side-by-side.
A fantastic addition to ‘Ultimate Dawson’.
