Frank Robinson 2011 Topps ’60 Years Of Topps’ – 1963 Topps Design

Frank Robinson 2011 Topps ’60 Years Of Topps’ – 1963 Topps Design

Man, you have no idea how much that I wish that this card was the original.  If it were, it would probably rate as the best card in my collection…

VINTAGE FRANK ROBINSON 60YOT

But, this one was not released in 1963.  It is quite a bit more modern than that, it was released in 2011.

The card is part of Topps’ “60 Years Of Topps” set, and I love the way that Topps paid homage to not only their history, but to those that paved the way for the players of today as well.

A fantastic card.

The framing around this portrait of Frank Thomas is unreal.

Have a look:

VINTAGE THOMAS

Just perfect!!!  Gypsy Queen is easily my favorite brand of cards that Topps is releasing these days.  The cards offer something for all collectors to get excited about.

For me, a guy that does not collect modern players, it allows me the chance to stay current with today’s releases while still staying to my main focus of celebrating the baseball heroes of past generations.

I lived in Chicago when Frank Thomas debuted with the White Sox.  And while he may have worn the more modern looking Sox uniform a lot more than the older version, it is the one featured on his 2012 Topps Gypsy Queen baseball card that is my favorite!!

Alan Trammell 1989 Donruss Baseball’s Best – BATTING CAGE CARD!!!!

Alan Trammell 1989 Donruss Baseball’s Best

Two of my favorite things are combined on this one single baseball card of Alan Trammell.

Care to guess what they are???

Well, if you said (1) batting cage card and (2) card commemorating the best in the game, you would have been right.

This card of Trammell is from Donruss’ 1989 Baseball’s Best card set.  The image is superb, and the background is even better!!!

A fantastic addition to my Alan Trammell player collection.

Did You Know…

Carl Crawford, of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has led the league in stolen bases more than any other active player in major league baseball.  Crawford led the AL in steals for four consecutive seasons, from 2003 through 2007.

Baseball Card Show TONIGHT!!!!

Baseball Card Show TONIGHT!!!!

It is Friday.

It is also the 1st of March.

Time to attend the monthly baseball card show!!!

And I am so ready for this show.

With the release of the 2013 Topps Series 1 set, my collecting focus has been re-sharpened.  I am eager to get to the show, and I am ready to shop.

I am going to get back to my original approach – circle the full show without stopping to shop before completing the lap.  I want to see what everyone has to offer before stopping for an extended period of time.  I will make mental notes of who I want to re-visit on my second lap and that is where the shopping will start.

My goals for the show include, but are not limited to:

  • vintage Rollie Fingers cards (getting close to completing this PC)
  • 2013 Topps Marlins – parallel versions
  • 2013 Topps ‘Greats’ – I don’t have any, but want many
  •  bargain bin finds
  • help with my Deckle Edge, Cloth Stickers, and Moonshots subsets
  • 2013 Topps Bryce Harper cards – I have busted wayy too many packs to still have none..
  • trade bait for the great readers of this blog

Wish me luck!!!

And get ready for a full recap of the card show and posts featuring all of my purchases that will launch all day long on Monday!!!
