Nolan Ryan 1999 Topps Commemorative Set – Card #19 – 1986 Topps Design
One of my 2013 collecting goals was to complete the 1999 Topps Nolan Ryan Commemorative baseball card set. The set features a re-print of each of Ryan’s base cards issued by Topps from his rookie season to his final season.
This is the 19th card in the set, a re-print of Ryan’s 1986 Topps baseball card:
As for Ryan’s 1986 baseball season, he was still chugging along at 39 years of age. During that season, Ryan went 12-8 with a 3.34 ERA in 178 innings of work. He started 30 games for the Astros in 1986 and threw one complete game. Ryan struck out 194 batters during the seasons and finished the campaign with a 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings average.

Jim Palmer 2003 Topps Shoebox Collection – NICE!!
For me, I cannot get enough rookie card re-prints in my collection. And as long as I have the original, like I do for Jim Palmer’s 1966 Topps card, I will continue to seek out the re-prints as I can.
This one is a bit on the more ‘rare’ side. It comes from the 2003 Topps ‘Shoebox’ baseball card set.
The front of the card is the same as the original from the ’66 set, with the exception of the Golden ‘Shoebox’ logo that Topps stamped the card with in the lower left-hand side.
Check it out!!!
A great addition to my blossoming Jim Palmer Super Collection!!!

Jim Rice 1985 Donruss Diamond Kings
Yes, I complain a lot about Diamond Kings baseball cards. Personally, I don’t care for them. I’d much rather see a different subset of cards celebrating a player from each team than these painted-up baseball portraits.
Some I find in which the player is unrecognizable.
Some I find just boring.
And some I find to be on the nice side.
But, as an overall set, I think that they just lasted way too long…
As for this one of Jim Rice from the 1985 Donruss baseball card set, it is fine. Not spectacular in my book, but far from poor.
Have a look:

1987 HEADLINE: Schmidt Connects For Home Run #500!!!
On this day in 1987 Michael Jack Schmidt hit the 500th home run of is incredible career!!
I remember watching the highlights of this game. The joy that Schmidt shared with us as he rounded the bases while pumping his fists is one of the greatest memories I have of baseball from 1980’s. Rarely do you see a player emit so much joy during a game, but Schmidt did not hold back and I am thankful that I was able to enjoy his moment with him.
Schmidt finished his career with 548 home runs placing him in 13th place on the all-time list.
Congratulations Mike and Happy Anniversary!!!

Andre Dawson 1990 Bowman Autographed Baseball Card!!!
Another autographed baseball card of Andre Dawson for the collection??
You Bet Your A$$!!!!
There was no way that I was going to let this one get by me – not for what it was selling for.
The card comes from the 1990 Bowman baseball card set, and unlike the Bowman release from the prior year, this one features a fantastic action photo!!!
Have a look:
And that sweet, bold, Blue Andre Dawson autograph is a perfect complement to such a nice looking baseball card!!
The collection continues to grow!!!
