Andre Dawson 2013 Topps Gypsy Queen – Black mini

Andre Dawson 2013 Topps Gypsy Queen – Black mini

YES!!!

Now that the base cards are out of the way, it is time for me to go after the colored versions of the Andre Dawson cards from this year’s Gypsy Queen set.

So far, from what I have seen, the prices appear to be all over the place.  And you know what that means for me – patience, patience, patience.

I scooped this one for just $2.00 and I have to say that the Black border really allows for the card’s image to stand out.  Dawson’s likeness has a 3-D effect to it!

The card is serial numbered as 63/199.

And now I am ready to go after the rest!!!

Yogi Berra 2001 Topps ’50 Years Of Topps’ – ‘Noteworthy’

Yogi Berra 2001 Topps ’50 Years Of Topps’ – ‘Noteworthy’

This is the last of the ‘Noteworthy’ cards that I had in my stack to show off on the blog.  This set is a very nice one and is becoming a ’30-YOC’ favorite.

But, I will say that of all of the cards I have picked up thus far from this set, this one below of Yogi Berra is my favorite.

Have a look:

VINATGE BERRA

There is just something about Mr. Berra that I have always liked.  I have a few cards of his, all from modern releases, but I now have a new favorite!!!

As for the set, I am going to have to try to find a checklist to see what would be involved in piecing the whole thing together.  If the checklist appeals to me, and the cards can be had affordably, this may be a journey worth taking!!!

Rollie Fingers 2002 Topps Archives Reserve – Chrome!

Rollie Fingers 2002 Topps Archives Reserve – Chrome!

I’m in a bit of a funk when it comes to pulling in new cards for my almost completed Rollie Fingers player collection.

And when I say ‘New’, I actually mean ‘Old’.

You see, of the cards I still need for this set of cards, they are the more expensive, older ones.

I will continue to seek them out and patiently wait for affordable ones to come my way.

In the meantime, enjoy this card of Mr. Fingers from the 2002 Topps Archives Reserve set.  This is the Chrome version.

George Brett 1989 Fleer

George Brett 1989 Fleer

I have to say that while I am not a huge fan of the 1989 Fleer baseball card design, there are a few cards from the set that stand out and look great.

And this one of George Brett falls into that category.

Check it out:

BRETT 12

First, let me say that I have never been a big fan of the combo of Grey & White on a card.  I like the Grey, a lot, but the White pinstripes don’t really do it for me.

The image is great, though.  I love the thought of Brett taking a ‘practice swing’ in a calm and cool manner just seconds before his demeanor changes and he approaches the plate in ‘attack mode’.

I have also been a big fan of that old Royals logo for a very long time.  It, like the name implies, has a sharp sense of royalty to it.

And then there are the wristbands!!!  Like Brett, I too used to wear wristbands when I played baseball.  I believe I used to get them in a 2-pack for $0.99.  And I had a bunch of colors.  And on the really ‘Cool’ days, I would pull off the old ‘Mix and Match’!!!!

Baseball Card Show T-O-N-I-G-H-T!!!!

Baseball Card Show T-O-N-I-G-H-T!!!!

Yes, I know that it is still May and I already attended a baseball card show in May.  But, the show is technically tomorrow, which is June 1.  The Friday-night part of the show is a kind of like a ‘preview’.  It allows for the dealers to come, set up, chat, and sell.  But, the volume of the business is done on Saturday.

For me, the Friday night show allows me a lot more freedom while not taking away from any family time on the weekend.

So, tonight I will be attending the June Baseball Card Show in May.

And I hope to be loving every minute of it!!!

As I prep my plans for the show, I do have a few goals that I am hoping I can conquer.

They are:

  1. Marlins 2013 colored variations
  2. 2013 Archives singles
  3. 2013 Bowman Marlins singles (4 in the set)
  4. Bryce Harper 2013 singles
  5. Joe Mauer 2012 Topps Archives ‘Deckle Edge’
  6. Inspiration for new subsets to collect

Hopefully, I am able to conquer a few of these goals tonight.

Regardless of how this goes, I will definitely show off my entire haul to you on Monday – so please stay tuned to ’30-YOC’ for a full show report and gallery of cards.

Have a great weekend, everyone!!
