Jim Palmer 2002 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts

Jim Palmer 2002 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts

Now this one right here is a beauty!!!

Sure, the image may be a bit too muted for all collectors to appreciate the art, but to each his own.

However, in my eyes, I love it!!!

Take a look:

PALMER 5

The background is out of focus just enough to allow Palmer’s image to pop off of the card.

I can almost feel that fastball coming my way!!!

What a great card.

Frank Robinson 2004 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic

I have not see too many of the cards from this set and to be honest, I don’t actively seek them out.

Truth be told, I find these cards to be a bit too ‘Maroon’ for me.  The colors just don’t work well and are not ‘baseball’ enough for me.

Have a look:

VINTAGE F ROBINSON

The borders and frames are fine.  And I like the Gold accents too.  But the sepia toned images and the Maroon colors used on the border and frame that surround the image do nothing to give you a focal point to ‘go to’ on the card.

For as much as I enjoy adding new cards of Frank Robinson to my collection, this one does not rank well on my list.

Finally!

It took me a very, very long time to obtain this card – for the price that I was seeking…

Amazingly, I pulled this card from a retail blaster of Archives when the 2012 set was issued last year.  Well, I had given that card up to a fellow collector and reader of the site.  Now, I have obtained a new copy of the card for myself and my subset.

MAUER DECKLE

I will not let this one get away!!!

1982 Topps – 1981 Major League RBI Leaders Featuring Eddie Murray & Mike Schmidt

1982 Topps – 1981 Major League RBI Leaders Featuring Eddie Murray & Mike Schmidt

Now this is a great way to start a Monday!!!

A baseball card featuring two of the greatest players from the 1980’s – two Hall of Famers in Mike Schmidt and Eddie Murray.

The card comes from the 1982 Topps set and it acknowledges the RBI Leaders in MLB from the 1981 baseball season.

Have a look:

SCHMIDT 3

Schmidt paced the NL with 91 RBI and Murray led the AL with 78.

Two great players – and two iconic styles!!!

Have a great day everyone.

UPDATE:  ’30-YOC Top Ten Lists’ – Top Ten Most Wanted Baseball Cards For The 30-YOC Collection

With my recent acquisition of the 1968 Topps ‘Bird Belters’ card that features Frank and Brooks Robinson, I thought it would be a good time for me to review how I have progressed on my quest to score the ‘Top Ten Most Wanted Baseball Cards’.

This was originally posted on ’30-YOC’ on 11/12/2012.  I thought it would be fun to look back and see how I have progressed with going after these cards now that we are six months removed from the original launch date.

I will keep the original post in tact and simply add a comment about the status of each in RED.

Enjoy.  And thanks for reading!!!

As you can see, I have done fairly well in bringing home some of the cards that I have tagged as ’30-YOC’s Most Wanted’.

Hopefully in time I can grab a few more, though some may be pretty pricey.

And who knows, a new list may be in order too…

Have a great night everyone.  And ‘Thanks For Reading’.
