Baseball Card Show Purchase #7 – Lot Of 2 Andre Dawson 1985 7-11 Slurpee 3-D Coins

There was one dealer at the show that had nothing but oddball stuff at his table.  It was not very organized as it was just sitting in colored buckets, but I was intrigued by all of the 30-count and 40-count set boxes that were familiar to me from my youth.

In the mix, he had a lot of neat things to check out – including 4-5 vials of disc/coin cards from the 1980’s.  I asked if they were being sold as a set or individually and he told me that the sets had already been broken up and to feel free to jump in and check them out.

So, I did!!

And I rescued these two:

SHOW 7

Both are from the 1985 7-11 Slurpee 3D Coin set, and both feature Andre Dawson!  I scanned them both with the hopes of being able to capture the changes that occur when these neat little coins are tilted.  I was not able to snag the full images, but I think you can see that the coin features both an action and a close-up shot of Andre from his time with the Expos.

I did not have these in my collection prior to the show, so I easily consider this my best purchase of the night!!!!

And the dealer told me he would bring more next month for me to sift through – YES!!!

  1. Very cool. My dad bought a bunch of these when they first came out. Pretty sure I still have them somewhere.

  2. The Sparky Anderson one is really good.
