Joe Morgan 2002 Upper Deck ‘Heroes Of Baseball’

Joe Morgan 2002 Upper Deck ‘Heroes Of Baseball’

Upper Deck’s ‘Heroes Of Baseball’ franchise has been around for a lot longer than most collectors. know.   Many of us, myself included, thought that the set that was released in 2008 was a one-off issue.

But, there were also releases under the same name in 2005 and 2002.  And maybe a few other years as well???

Anyways, I found a card of Joe Morgan from the 2002 set and I scooped it up for my new ‘Joe Morgan Super Collection’.

Have a look:

While maybe not as colorful as the sets that followed, I do like the design and logo for this set.  And the 3-D image is a nice attraction as well!!

Giancarlo Stanton 2013 Panini Prizm

Giancarlo Stanton 2013 Panini Prizm

While it is a bit hard to truly enjoy a baseball card product that does not feature team names and logos, I have to say that this card of Giancarlo Stanton from the 2013 Panini Prizm set works.

Because of the nature of the action taking place, and the fact that Stanton is wearing his sunglasses on his cap, the card maker did not have to hide the Marlins logo that is on his jersey or cap.  Instead, the natural movement of the action taking place hides both logos – and it does not come across as poorly as other cards from this set do.

Have a look:

The card’s design is a little odd, but I have to say that for an unauthorized card, this one is great!!!

Eddie Murray 2013 Topps Archives – 1985 Topps Design

Eddie Murray 2013 Topps Archives – 1985 Topps Design

While I am not the biggest fan of the image that was used here, I am a huge fan of the 1985 Topps product.

The ’85 Topps set was the first set that I put together as a kid, and it is one that I still have a ton of fond memories of; some 28 years later.

With the 2013 Topps Archives set, Topps celebrated the 1972, 1982, 1990, and 1985 designs from their prior issues.  I was most excited about seeing new releases that featured the 1985 Topps design.

And while the great colors and classic nameplate look great, I wish that the image selection for the ’85s were a bit better!

Here is the card of Eddie Murray from the set:

I do give Topps credit for selecting this Orioles logo!

Keith Hernandez 1984 Fleer – Name That Stadium!!!

Keith Hernandez 1984 Fleer

Ok, since Keith Hernandez is wearing his ‘Road Blue’ in this shot, it is very safe to say that he and the Mets were on the road when this photo was snapped for his 1984 Fleer baseball card.

So, do you know what stadium Hernandez is posing inside of??

I know the answer!!!

Do you??

Another Special Package Is Being Mailed To Andre Dawson This Morning!!!

Another Special Package Is Being Mailed To Andre Dawson This Morning!!!

I’ve got the itch to add another signed baseball to my Andre Dawson collection.

The collection sits at 12 signed balls as of right now, so lucky #13 is being dropped off at the USPS building on my way to work this morning.

TTM Ball

Yes, I asked for another special inscription with this one.  And yes, I am going to make you wait until it is returned to me to let you know what I asked for.

Have a great day everyone!!!

I Finally Decided What I Am Going To Do With My Ryan Braun T-shirt…

I Finally Decided What I Am Going To Do With My Ryan Braun T-shirt…

After pulling Ryan Braun’s t-shirt from my closet the other day, I just let it sit on the floor in the corner.  I was not sure what I was going to do with it, but I knew that it no longer deserved to be hanging with my roster of t-shirts that contain legendary names like Nolan Ryan, Joe Morgan, Reggie Jackson, Andre Dawson, and others.

I considered donating it.

Maybe sell it in the next community garage sale we participate in.

Possibly just throw it in the garbage.

All decent options – and all were considered.

But, then I think I found the best option.  An option that allows me to vent my frustration:

I think that this worked out rather well.  Ryan Braun shit on baseball; he shit on his fans; he shit on every member of the Milwaukee Brewers organization; and he shit on the history of the game.

So now, he gets what he deserves.  And to think at one point, he was my favorite non-Marlin…
